Through a multi-part public opinion research project, we learned how to best talk about patient-first care (aka value-based care) that aligns with how people want to receive high-quality, affordable health care. Our research shows people love Value-Based Care but hate the name. We want to use words that resonate with people and what they need from our health care system. So we’ve transitioned to use the term ⭐️Patient-First Care ⭐️. 🎥 Watch ‘Our Messaging Findings on Patient-First Care’ to learn more ⤵️ https://ow.ly/WerY50PSIkL

Meaningful progress has been made in value-based care, but the documented advances in reducing costs and improving patient outcomes have taken place predominately in the primary care sector. Significantly less headway has occurred in specialty care. But to be sustainable, value-based initiatives must connect primary care and specialty care. Great article on bringing #ValueBasedCare to specialty practices through collaboration with primary care groups in a value-based enterprise. Timely ideas given the push for specialist participation in value-based care by payors. For example, the new mandatory TEAM Innovation Center model will bring bundled payments for #ortho, #spine, #heart, and #gastro surgeries at 25% of hospitals nationwide. The value-based enterprise structure enables meaningful incentives to #surgeons for their crucial contribution to value-based care goals. Check out the insightful piece by Ed White, Mike Segal, and Robert Ball.

❗Check out the feature on our research on Patient-First Care (a.k.a. Value-Based Care) in Fierce Healthcare ❗ Our CEO Natalie Davis on the promise and pitfalls of this approach: “Our research found that people love the promise of value-based care. They love the prospect of spending more time with their doctors, providers communicating with each other directly, and patients being treated as a whole person, instead of a collection of symptoms [...] however, we’re not talking about this vision effectively: no one understands what ‘value-based care’ is, and the term can make you think of cheaper and lesser quality services.” Read the article 👇 https://lnkd.in/gswPH-zp Review our research 👇 https://lnkd.in/gGyZuvRt
