Getting proper health care can be a difficult process – especially when navigating factors like insurance coverage, in-person or virtual care, or medical costs – so what happens when you throw AI in the mix? AI has the ability to 𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙯𝙚 medical care, and it could be a way to undermine the bias that is often prevalent in our health care system. From our research, we found that Black adults were more likely than any other racial demographic to prefer extensive use of AI tools. Adding technology to care could make care more unbiased and accessible for people seeking virtual appointments. At the same time, it is important to ensure that care under AI does not lose the human element. Having face-to-face interactions with physicians is incredibly meaningful, and many people prefer their physicians to not use AI tools. When it comes to AI in health care, listening to everyday people is key. Learn more about our work 🔗: https://lnkd.in/ewA-mBDS

🔎 Looking for new resources that provide policy recommendation for making health care more affordable? We just released new resources: a collection of two-pagers that outline the key principles we consider essential for the policy solutions we’re working on. When working to make health care more affordable, policymakers should focus on solutions that reduce direct costs to patients, carefully consider the impact on the overall system, and ensure more reliable coverage. 𝗘𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝘁-𝗼𝗳-𝗽𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 is a crucial solution to alleviating the fear of financial ruin for many people. In each of our new resources, we provide an overview of the issues, our policy recommendation, and examples at the state or federal levels. The principles we cover are: 💰 Protecting people from unfair facility fees 🔥 Promoting fair billing practices through site-neutral payment ↔ Expanding patient access to high-quality, cost-effective services 🛡️ Preserving access to no-cost preventive services For more details, click the link in the comments for the series of resources.

Still the number one concern for people concerning their health care: 𝒄𝒐𝒔𝒕. We know this because we’ve listened to thousands of people across the country and heard their struggles: choosing between food and health care, deciding which care they can afford, or even delaying care - all due to the overwhelming cost of health care. From our work, we created a framework for building a better health care system called our United Solutions for Care. This framework outlines four goals and 12 policy solutions that can make our health care system more equitable and accessible. Currently, we released a new series of resources that outlines steps policymakers can take to 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝘁-𝗼𝗳-𝗽𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀. In each of our new resources, we provide an overview of the issues, our policy recommendations, and examples at the state or federal levels. The principles we cover are: ➢ Protecting people from unfair facility fees ➢ Promoting fair billing practices through site-neutral payment ➢ Expanding patient access to high-quality, cost-effective services ➢ Preserving access to no-cost preventive services Our goal is clear: ensure everyone has access to health care, regardless of income or location.
