An impactful #WHA wraps up with the adoption of this important resolution on climate change and health! The resolution accurately recognizes climate change as one of the major threats to global health, calling for a laser focus on climate-resilient and sustainable health systems. As the global health community figures out the best way to support countries to put this resolution into action, we must: - Assess the climate resilience and preparedness of health systems and develop locally led solutions for the delivery of services through environmental pressures and climate disasters. - Engage communities to manage climate change adaptation—from early warning systems to dissemination of critical information, and integrated climate, health, and livelihood activities. - Support the development of women and young people as the next generation of climate innovators. - Include health and gender priorities in climate policies that account for the needs of women and girls. Day 3 of National Public Health Week is all about celebrating our commitment as an industry to addressing Climate Change. We live in a world where rising temperatures, extreme weather events, and environmental degradation threaten the very fabric of our communities. This is the reality facing millions around the globe, particularly those in undervalued communities who bear the brunt of these impacts. We recognize that climate change is not just an environmental issue – it's a public health crisis. From increased rates of heat-related illnesses to the spread of vector-borne diseases, the health consequences of climate change are profound and far-reaching. Amidst these challenges lies an opportunity for action. Now is the time for us to come together, and address the root causes of climate injustices. By working collaboratively with communities, we can implement solutions that not only mitigate the health impacts of climate change but also overcome challenges and sustainability. As we navigate the complexities of climate change, let's remember that every action we take today shapes the health outcomes of tomorrow. Together, let's be stewards of our planet and champions for the health and well-being of all. #NPHW2024 #ClimateAction
