American Resilience Project’s Post

Happy hump day or as we're now calling it, ARP's climate communications tip day! ARP exists because we have a significant #communication problem when it comes to environmental matters. We live in a polarized time where it can be challenging to engage in a conversation around climate change because people's walls often come up right away. The Honorable Sharon Burke suggests that we bring the topic closer to people's homes if we want to have a more productive conversation about #climate change. While serving at the Pentagon from 2010 to 2014, Assistant Secretary Burke helped lead the military's ongoing efforts to reduce its dependence on petroleum. She is now the founder and president of Ecospherics, a company focused on how a changing natural environment is shaping human #security and how societies in turn are shaping the #environment. You can listen to our podcast episode with Sharon Burke or watch our film The Burden, in which we speak to her and other experts about the risks posed by the US military's dependence on #fossilfuels.
