Happy hump day or as we're now calling it, ARP's climate communications tip day! ARP exists because we have a significant #communication problem when it comes to environmental matters. We live in a polarized time where it can be challenging to engage in a conversation around climate change because people's walls often come up right away. The Honorable Sharon Burke suggests that we bring the topic closer to people's homes if we want to have a more productive conversation about #climate change. While serving at the Pentagon from 2010 to 2014, Assistant Secretary Burke helped lead the military's ongoing efforts to reduce its dependence on petroleum. She is now the founder and president of Ecospherics, a company focused on how a changing natural environment is shaping human #security and how societies in turn are shaping the #environment. You can listen to our podcast episode with Sharon Burke or watch our film The Burden, in which we speak to her and other experts about the risks posed by the US military's dependence on #fossilfuels. 🎧🎙️ NEW EPISODE! https://hubs.ly/Q02qP9tG0 In the U.S. alone, 162 million people will experience a worse quality of life due to the changing climate within the next 30 years. Rising sea levels stand to displace 13 million Americans in the long run while wildfires and other risks are likely to displace millions more. With 3.2 million American climate migrants to-date, it’s time to start thinking about what our country’s future might look like. Even these statistics may be vast underestimates because nailing down someone’s exact reason for moving is harder than it may seem. So, how do we determine what factors influence people’s decisions to move? Why is climate migration about more than beating the heat? What history brought us here and where are we headed? This week’s episode with investigative journalist and author Abrahm Lustgarten will answer these questions and more. Mentioned in this episode: IPCC, New York Times Magazine, Rhodium Group, USDA Forest Service

As heat waves, storms, droughts and wildfires get worse, at times simply talking about the crisis feels like a wholly insufficient solution. Yet time and time again, we see that straightforward conversations are one of the best ways to share information, find common ground and inspire action. So how can we make our climate conversations really count? For our latest episode, Greg Dalton and Ariana Brocious revisit powerful climate discussions with leaders like Katharine Hayhoe, Meera Subramanian, Faith Kearns, author Anand Giridharadas, Chloe M., and John Cook of Skeptical Science.

Those of you who know me, know that I LOVE to talk about the #GreenTransition, and more specifically the role of #buildings in it. So - it was a real treat to sit down with Climate Group's Jeroen Gerlag to discuss why we need a #RenovationRevolution - and why it's crucial to place people at the heart of it.
