OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE : Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), Cathay Cargo, and CHAMP Cargosystems are pioneering the adoption of International Air Transport Association (IATA)’s ONE Record digital data-sharing standard, promoting efficiency, transparency, and collaboration. This joint initiative, initially for shipments between Paris CDG and Hong Kong airports, replaces traditional methods with real-time data sharing, enabling better operational decisions and paving the way for new value-added services. With this launch, we're taking a significant step towards IATA's 2026 implementation goal, setting a new standard for digitalisation in air cargo. According to the latest International Air Transport Association (IATA) projections, airlines are on track to achieve a net profit margin of 3.1% in 2024, with net profits expected to reach $30.5 billion, a significant recovery considering the recent challenges. However, the industry's profitability remains fragile, with returns still below the cost of capital. At Maxamation , we believe that airlines can do even better when it comes to growing flight revenue. By leveraging Aviator, our intuitive revenue management system with a proven track record of success, our airline partners are regularly unlocking an additional 4% to 20% in revenue gains. Hard to believe that there are still many airlines either not using revenue management systems or using them inefficiently, missing out on substantial revenue gains. Imagine the impact of combining IATA's projected profits with the additional savings from Aviator? Airlines can strengthen financial resilience, invest in better services, and contribute to a more sustainable future. Take advantage of this opportunity to optimise your revenue and enhance profitability. Learn more about how Aviator can make a difference for your airline. SAS - Scandinavian Airlines has awarded a cargo handling contract to Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) at a fourth major airport gateway in North America. The new three-year agreement will see WFS, a member of SATS Group, handle cargo onboard SAS flights to and from Boston. The airline now offers daily Airbus A350 flights between the New England city and the Danish capital, Copenhagen. WFS expects to handle over 8 million kilograms of cargo a year on SAS’s Boston operations, including high volumes of perishables. “Boston is a prime airport gateway for WFS and SAS in North America. Our ability to provide the airline with the high service standards it expects for its customers, alongside the reputation we have built working with SAS at other major U.S. airports, have earned us this new opportunity to extend our partnership,” said Timothy Coggswell, VP Cargo – North East Region at WFS. ✈️2 years ago none of the US carriers connected Brisbane Airport Corporation with USA. Now it seems Brisbane is one of the trendiest cities in the APAC region. Following American Airlines announcement to launch a direct Dallas to Brisbane route some weeks ago, Delta Air Lines has just unveiled their plans to link Los Angeles with Queensland. While Dallas is planned to be a year-round service, Delta plans to operate L.A. only on seasonal basis (at least initially). Using our Lufthansa Systems state-of-the-art #networkplanning tool NetLine/Plan, I looked at the incremental impact both routes could have on the competing services. ⚙️NetLine/Plan is an industry leading tool, used by 20+ airlines globally, as well as various OEMs and consultancies. It supports decision making process related to airline network planning. It forecasts load-factors, as well as profitability, based on global schedules, global market size as well as revenue and cost data. It can analyze impact of any schedules change (also incremental) for any airline worldwide. And it does it really fast, transparent and accurate. Here are some conclusions: 1️⃣AA's standalone BNEDFW flights would likely impact mostly United Airlines existing services between BNE and SFO/LAX (up to -8pp/-5pp LF respectively) and, to a lower extent, Air Canada and Qantas routes. 2️⃣DL's additional capacity stirrs the market a bit more, as it will directly compete with QF and UA on the same route. UA could now see up to -9pp LF impact on its BNELAX and QF could face up to -6pp traffic dillution on its service. Last not least, thanks to Delta's connecting network in L.A., initial estimates for AA's BNEDFW are now a bit less optimistic (-7pp LF impact), as customers from Western USA could now chose to connect with Delta instead of backtracking to Dallas first. Any thoughts? Do you think that there is too much capacity on US-BNE routes and airlines may decide to reduce frequencies and/or to down gauge? Or do you expect the market to actually soar? 🗣️If you would like to discuss more or learn about #NetLine products, feel very welcome to reach out.
