LIFT Aircraft, an American electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) company, recently launched the world's first eVTOL pay-per-flight experience. This experience allows regular passengers to fly their own personal electric aircraft without buying one. LIFT announced the service launch alongside a live broadcast flight of its aircraft, HEXA, on ABC's Good Morning America (GMA). ✈️ LIFT will initially focus its operations in Florida, with its first location at Lakeland Linder International Airport (LAL) operating until April 28. The company will expand its service to Austin in May and other U.S. cities in the future. ✈️ The pay-per-flight experience lasts around two hours and includes extensive ground training. The training uses a virtual reality flight simulator to teach passengers the controls and accustom them to the aircraft. ✈️ LIFT Aircraft’s CEO and Founder Matthew Chasen said that HEXA will revolutionize personal aviation and create a new era of mobility. Passengers can book the experience on LIFT’s newly released mobile app or the company’s website. ✈️ Passengers do not need a pilot’s license to operate HEXA since the aircraft meets the Federal Aviation Administration’s Powered Ultralight classification. Other ultralight vehicles include hot air balloons and powered parachutes. https://lnkd.in/dhgWw7Bx #liftaircraft #aviation #evtol #electricaircraft #florida #austin #technology #innovation #future

BETA TECHNOLOGIES has unveiled an early look at its passenger variant fixed-wing and VTOL ALIA aircraft concept. The company, which plans to enter into service with its cargo- and medical-focused variant as soon as 2025, will aim to launch its passenger aircraft into service thereafter. The company’s passenger-focused ALIA aircraft is designed to be able to comfortably carry up to five passengers plus a pilot, and the sizable cabin has adequate volume to accommodate carry-on as well as TSA secure luggage. Similar to BETA’s other aircraft, it was developed with safety and utility in mind and will be certified for Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) operations and will be capable of all-weather flying with FIKI certification. Optimized for volume and range, similar to BETA’s other platform configurations, this aircraft is designed to carry out a variety of passenger missions, including intra-city and regional transport routes. https://ow.ly/uJle50TE3YY #evtolinsights #betatechnologies #alia #vtol #electricaviation #advancedairmobility #fixedwing #aircraft #usa

#advancedairmobility #opinion - Thanks for a very balanced article, Charles Alcock at FutureFlight. Even though I have serious safety concerns about the 216s' low rotors, as I have concerns about short seller reports or the hype generate by investment analysts and eVTOL developers, people do need to get both sides of the story and use LinkedIn to debate the issues. Thank you Bill Johnson for posting first

There are now almost 1000 eVTOL (air taxi) concepts in development. Most will never raise enough funds to get to commercial use certification. However, there are a handful of frontrunners such as Joby Aviation, Archer BETA TECHNOLOGIES and Volocopter that are on track to be operational in the next year or two. Behind these frontrunners are a dozen or more that will probably get there once the business use cases are proven. The limited launch use cases will prove it can be done but the revolution only comes when the Skyportz® vertiports enable new destinations in places where people want to go - and this comes down to land use planning and Government support. Without a multitude of vertiports there can be no revolution, although there will be limited uses cases that will still work using existing airports/heliports and sight seeing for tourists at natural attractions. https://lnkd.in/gW-JeUSB
