🚄 “The Future of High-Speed Rail is Now." ~Amtrak's Andy Byford Our latest video on high-speed rail features Amtrak President Roger Harris and Senior Vice President of High-Speed Rail Andy Byford discussing the future of high-speed rail at Amtrak. We explore what it will take to expand high-speed rail to other corridors across the United States and answer the biggest questions: Why is it so hard to get high-speed rail across the U.S.? And where do we see HSR next? Did you watch the video? Let us know in the comments which two cities Roger and Andy discussed as Amtrak’s primary focus for future high-speed rail. And let us know on a scale of 1-10 how excited you are for high-speed rail in America. #Amtrak #hsr #sustainability #train
I too have ridden the Eurostar and Shinkansen. Amazing trains! We need more than just local routes at higher speed. We need long haul routes with full right-of-way at higher speed and not shared with freight lines. I’m optimistic for the future.
United States needs more railway projects. Not only high-speed trains but also regular passenger trains, subways and suburban trains as well as freight trains.
I recently saw there was a new high speed rail company in the US. I believe it was the SouthEast, and I’m not taking Brightline. I feel like it was Charlotte-VA area but I could be wrong. I love & support Amtrak and wish the best in your successes. As a NY’er I’m blessed to live near the Acela line, but hopefully someday the Fed will make it easier for you to obtain permission to upgrade railways.
You guys should fix your frequent delays and cancels first before thinking anything beyond your capabilities.
Nice to see you creating legacy systems again and so good to see you out and about @andybyford
sounds like a bit of a bold claim "Western Hemisphere"? I thought most of Spain was in the Western Hemisphere, possibly even bits of France provided with LGVs sooner?
Take a look at the Great Lakes Region! A high speed route between Minneapolis, Madison, Milwaukee, Chicago, Indianapolis would connect the inter-city pairs like no other transportation method. Check out hsrail.org for more information!
I think the effort to get the Dallas to Houston high-speed rail up running is definitely going to be worth it.
The crucial factors will be controlling project costs and ensuring deep integration with existing rail and transit for hassle-free travel.

4moLove how Europe Train Travel operates and once I land "across the pond", it's the only way I travel between cities/countries. Not sure if we can get that level of technology and service here in the states but how about high-speed service between Miami and the NE corridor?
