BSc (Hons) in Animal Management and Wildlife Conservation focused in Clinical Animal Behaviour and Animal welfare.

We have numerous scientific studies demonstrating that aversive training methods (i.e. positive punishment, negative reinforcement) are detrimental for the animals welfare and for Human-animal relationships (HAR). Such methods induce fear and anxiety wich might translate in behavioural problems, such as avoidance behaviour and aggression. Please ask to a competent person before using any training method rather than positive reinforcement. Even negative punishment may cause frustration and anxiety and lead to related behaviour problems.

Concerningly, in the recent Royal Veterinary College study into pandemic puppies it was revealed that 82% of participants reported using aversive training methods which negtively impacts welfare. If you have a pandemic puppy and would like further support our FAB members can help! #dogbehaviour #CCAB https://bit.ly/4b9Wko4
