The word "Anabranch" refers to a branch of a river that separates and flows away from the main channel, only to rejoin it further downstream. Just as an anabranch diverges from the main river, individuals who have been impacted by the criminal justice system often find themselves on a detour from the mainstream path of society. At Anabranch Plus, we recognise that these divergent paths, while challenging, are not permanent. Our goal is to serve as the "plus"; the guiding force that reconnects these individuals with the main course of life empowering them to navigate their way back to a fulfilling and productive journey. To achieve this, we offer a wide range of services designed to address the multifaceted challenges faced by individuals with criminal records, including: - Employment Skills Training - Entrepreneurship Training - Personal Development Workshops - One-on-One and Group Mentoring -Consultancy for CJS Initiatives -Social Value Support -Reintegration Program Development -CJS Awareness and Education Here at Anabranch Plus, we truly do believe everyone can reach their potential and recognise the value in a hands-on, collaborative and whole society approach to addressing both the barriers/stigmas and support required to provide training to those within the CJS. We offer our services to the private, public, and charitable sectors, ensuring all areas of the CJS are able to benefit from our expertise and tailored services. https://lnkd.in/d2Tx2gBH CEO and Founder: Omar Mentesh #CriminalJustice #Rehabilitation #EmploymentSkills #LifeSkills #LivingSkills #Holistic #Empathy #Understanding #Change

Mr Shukul Raaj Kumar, Chief Coordinator, Inter-Religious Organisation, Youth Wing; spoke on a panel that discussed “identifying causes of social division and exclusion”. He further added that “we are not here to homogenise youth, but to foster diverse, pluralistic views that come together to co-create something greater than ourselves. By empowering young people to embrace their strengths, build meaningful connections, and champion each other, we move beyond tolerance to acceptance, and ultimately to advocacy for one another." #towardsICCS2025 #ICCS #RSIS #RSISICCS

ACT CIC | Empowering Young People for 12 Years! 🌟 Igniting Action 📣 Over the past 12 years, ACT has passionately championed the development and empowerment of young people. As the founder of ACT CIC, I've returned to my roots in youth work, supporting marginalized youth to find their voices and take social action (ACT) on pressing issues. Knife Awareness Project: In 2014, we launched a peer-led initiative addressing knife crime, educating 30,000+ youth in two years. The PEACE ACT commemorated the lives of young victims of knife crime and spotlighted local efforts against Serious Youth Violence. 🛡️ Overcoming Challenges: Despite limited resources, ACT fought through tough times, challenging outdated perspectives on youth violence. We've contributed to the local, national, and international debate, sharing the reality of life on the ground for many young people. 🔍I remember talking to a top-ranking Police officer who quietly told me that Knife crime wasn't an issue and that it was the lowest it's ever been, so it was of no real concern, 6 months later knife crime skyrocketed, but this summarises the attitudes we were up against at the time. These were also the times when getting schools to even open their doors and talk to their pupils about these issues, was something that they wanted no part of, for fear that it would ruin their reputation and parents would start to removing their kids. 🚀 Impactful Initiatives: From showcasing talents (Peace ACT, Artist Management Factory) to countering the school-to-prison pipeline, ACT has pioneered alternative strategies (Raising Aspirations, Behaviour Intervention) and addressed Child Criminal Exploitation (Critical Intervention). 👥 Training for Impact: Over the last 5 years, we've trained 218 practitioners, supporting 100 organizations with the UK's only qualification to address gangs, violence, and CCE impacts. 🎉 Celebrating 12 Years: As we mark this milestone, a restructure is underway to propel us toward our mission: supporting 100,000 marginalised young people and their families, but we can't do this alone so over the next 10 years we aim to train 10,000 practitioners and support 1000 organisations. Your continued support is crucial! 💪 Resourceful Impact: Operating on a shoestring budget, our dynamic team has showcased the power of resourcefulness, creativity, and an unwavering desire for change. Despite challenges, we've proven that even smaller organizations can make a substantial impact. #ACTCIC #YouthEmpowerment #SocialImpact #AnniversaryCelebration

We have to take the time to involve our young people in the process of solving the problems of our neighborhood. They are a part of the community as well. Let’s lead by example. Youth violence is undoubtedly a serious issue that can have lasting detrimental effects on both perpetrators and victims, as well as their families, friends, and communities. In addressing youth violence, mentoring has been shown to serve both a prevention and intervention function. The Youth Mentorship Through Community Engagement Act 2024 aims to help make the changes District residents are in need of. There are a number of benefits associated with mentoring that extend beyond the individual. In recent years, it has been demonstrated that mentoring at-risk youth has a ripple effect that benefits all those involved. Families benefit from the change in their attitude and competence. As a result of mentoring, youth become more active in their communities and often become mentors themselves. This cyclical effect results in the benefits of mentorship being felt for generations to come. #CleanWard8 #WeAreWard8 #AStandardOfExcellence #SalimAdofo #TeamSalim Sign on to our letter of support here: bit.ly/savedcyouth

Connecting Business with local charities, social enterprises and the community to Innovate for Good 🌱 Force4good | Entrepreneur | With Purpose Network | ESG | Social Impact | Employee Engagement & Volunteering 🌎
Today's visit was to a place really close to my heart ❤️ I've always loved mentoring and supporting young people to thrive, and my meeting today with Mark Kirby at the Olive Academy to talk collaboration was really inspiring 🌟 This amazing organisation is working with some of the most disadvantaged and at-risk young people in our Cambridgeshire community. Mainstream school didn't fit the 50 young people here, and therefore they are in an alternative education provision from years 9-11. They can face trauma and barriers to attainment but possess huge potential 🌱 I have worked and supported young people who have attended this place for over 25 years and when the opportunity arose to collaborate I grabbed it with both hands 🤝 If you want to invest in the future of young people to change generational cycles, support them and their families to thrive, and create pathways for them to be more economically active and reach their potential, drop me a message 📩 Mark is keen to build partnerships with local businesses who want to share their time, skills, finances and resources to do good and that align with their values 🌎🌱❤️ and of course this is what I help organisations with and how to build a strategy around this - we are exploring ideas 💡 This provision is on the cutting edge of improving lives of young people that dabble with crime and prison unless steps are taken to intervene 🤝 Want to link in❓ Let’s start a conversation; Drop me a DM! #businessasaforceforgood #YouthEmpowerment #socialimpact

True community Empowerment is not a headline and beyond mere words. It's a process. Julian Rappaport’s empowerment model isn't about grand gestures seen by millions. It's about the unseen, meticulous work that truly transforms communities from the inside out. Why is community needs assessment crucial? Because supplying 2000 people with resources might look good on paper, but it doesn't automatically solve deeper, systemic issues. It's like applying a bandage on a wound without treating the infection beneath. Our team at LiteraReach in Osun state under the leadership of Rukayat Adekola is blessed with amazing volunteers and we are looking for more volunteers to help us reach the remotest areas in Osun State. We are diving deeper. We're not just 'jumping in.' We're engaging with the heart and soul of the community – its natives – to identify the root causes of literacy gaps among primary school students. It's about understanding the unique challenges they face and crafting solutions that are not just effective but sustainable. By leveraging the insights and experiences of Osun's natives, we're not only bridging literacy gaps; we're building a model of empowerment that can be replicated across communities worldwide. This is what true empowerment looks like. It's deliberate. It's informed. It's local. Let's talk about how we can adopt a similar model in your community. What unique challenges does your community face, and how can we address them together? Empowerment starts with a conversation. Let's begin. Kindly repost this to help us reach volunteers in Osun state. cc: Lukman Adeoti Fathia Abdulganiyu #literacy #educationforall #community #empowerment #qualityeducation #literareach #sdg4
