Forbes Global Properties | ''Grandeur and opulence do remain, but it’s quiet, understated, refined design that’s flourished in the past five years or more.” All this leads to a different sort of engagement with the place. Ashmore notices clients now bringing with them a desire for belonging, a desire to make the UAE their permanent, long-term home. “They take more care and attention in the creation of the buildings, places and spaces they want.” - ANARCHITECT®'s Founding Principal Jonathan Ashmore shares a few thoughts for Forbes Global Properties and their newly launched online magazine Storied; on 'How Dubai’s going native for creatives' in a great report by Rebecca Anne Proctor. 🏙️ Unveiling Dubai's Urban Palette: The Story Behind Beige, White, and Sand-Coloured Homes 🏠 After immersing myself in the vibrant streets of Dubai, I couldn't help but notice a recurring theme in the city's architectural landscape—the ubiquitous hues of beige, white, and sand that adorn its homes and buildings. Intrigued by this distinctive colour scheme, I delved deeper, researching and asking around to uncover the fascinating reasons behind it. Here's what I discovered: 1. Climate Consciousness: One of the primary factors influencing Dubai's urban colour palette is its arid desert climate. As I delved into my research, it became evident that the choice of light-coloured facades serves a practical purpose beyond aesthetics. These hues, particularly beige and sand, help buildings reflect sunlight rather than absorb it, thus mitigating heat absorption and reducing energy consumption for cooling purposes. In a city where temperatures soar (and will continue to), it's a testament to Dubai's commitment to environmental stewardship. 2. Cultural Heritage: White, in particular, emerged as a colour deeply rooted in Emirati culture and tradition. Symbolizing purity, peace, and prosperity, it is prominently featured in the architecture of traditional Arabian homes, mosques, and landmarks. By incorporating this cultural symbolism into modern urban developments, Dubai pays homage to its rich heritage while embracing contemporary design principles—a delicate balance between tradition and innovation that defines the city's architectural identity. 3. Regulatory Guidelines: Interestingly, inquiries led me to discover that Dubai's urban colour scheme is not merely a matter of personal preference but is governed by regulatory guidelines. These guidelines, established by city planners and authorities, ensure visual harmony and coherence in the urban landscape. Dubai's beige, white, and sand-coloured homes are not just architectural expressions but reflections of a city that blends tradition with innovation, and sustainability with style 🌆✨ #UrbanColorPalette #DubaiArchitecture #CulturalHeritage

What if your #home could be a symphony for the senses? Today, the spaces we inhabit do more than provide protection – they profoundly impact our mood, comfort and overall #wellbeing. It’s not simply about what looks impressive or beautiful; it’s about how it feels and quietly connects with us on a deeper level. In the #luxury real estate sector, we are moving towards architectural designs that engage all our senses through an interplay of light, sound and texture – those invisible forces that transform a simple living area into an immersive #experience. Our homes should evoke tranquility, joy and inspiration, where every room invites us to pause, breathe and truly be present in the moment. As we embark on this transformative journey, its essential to recognize that the principles behind designing for #wellness are not new. Drawing from the wisdom of ancient civilizations, contemporary architects and designers now prioritize natural light, ventilation, and thoughtful spatial layouts to enhance our #quality of life. At Alpago Properties, we take pride in crafting homes that resonate with the essence of those who reside within them. Our holistic design #philosophy guarantees that every architectural element not only meets physical needs but also nurtures psychological and emotional #health. Amidst a world that often values speed over connection, we advocate for spaces that promote #mindfulness and presence. By seamlessly integrating advanced technology with biophilic design, we cultivate environments rich in sensory #engagement. From smart automation that tailors lighting and climate to your needs, to double-height ceilings that invite abundant sunlight, complemented by wellness amenities like zen gardens, soothing spas, and serene pool areas—each space encourages relaxation and a deeper bond with #nature. In the end, designing spaces that foster a sense of belonging and elevate comfort has never been more vital in #modern living – homes where both body and spirit can flourish. #realestate #luxuryliving #dubai #alpagoproperties #alpagogroup #sensoryengagement #comfort #holistic #innovation

🌆 Seeing a project on paper versus experiencing it in a show apartment can be like night and day. It's one thing to imagine the layout and design elements, but being physically present in the space allows you to feel its flow, sense the ambiance, and truly understand how it will feel once completed. 🏙️ #dubai #realestate #interiordesign
