This week's Wednesday Wisdom comes from Moustafa Yehia Mahmoud our Director of Sustainability in the Middle East. For neurodivergent individuals, our relationship with work often feels different. There’s a strong drive to achieve, create, and find purpose, and the satisfaction comes from progress and momentum. But for many of us, rest becomes something we need to plan for rather than something that happens naturally. This photo is a gentle reminder of why that’s important. Away from the office, meetings, and projects, at AtkinsRéalis, we prioritize care for one another. True innovation comes from being balanced, rested, and supported. For neurodivergent individuals, that means recognizing when we need time to step back and recharge. We can’t pour from an empty cup. In a world that values constant output, it’s easy to forget that rest isn’t the opposite of productivity - it’s part of it. At AtkinsRéalis, we remind each other that taking care of ourselves is integral to our work. Rest isn’t pulling away from what matters; it’s replenishing the energy to contribute meaningfully. For those who find joy in the work we do, remember: rest isn’t a break from progress - it’s a part of it. Exciting news! Project CAELUS, led by AGS Airports with NHS Scotland, has won the Most Innovative Transport Project at the Scottish Transport Awards! For people in remote and rural parts of Scotland, accessing treatment can be a huge undertaking, sometimes taking up to two days with taxis, ferries, and planes. We're pioneering the UK’s first drone network to deliver medical supplies to remote areas. Working as part of this team, AtkinsRéalis is providing crucial infrastructure like mobile landing pods and recharging units. We've recently completed work on a key project at London Gatwick Airport - a new Rapid Exit Taxiway (RET). Now in use, the RET helps reduce delays and supports sustainability goals - including limiting carbon and noise emissions. Despite a Covid-19 pause, by working with the airport and other partners we were able to optimize the redesign. This cut carbon emissions by over 10%—equivalent to driving 1.3 million miles!
