Johannes Hell has formal and hands on experience in a very large range of methods spanning from organic chemistry to protein biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, electrophysiology, and all the way animal behavior and detailed insight into many areas of Pharmacology and Neuroscience. His strengths are a deep mechanistic understanding of synaptic functions, ligand- and voltage-gated ion channels, signaling by GPCRs and kinases, and the multidisciplinary use of cutting edge molecular, cellular, electrophysiological, and behavioral methods including superresolution microscopy and recording of fEPSP, EPSC, mEPSC and single Ca2+ channels.
