I love a brick arch, almost as much as I love to travel. This pic was taken in Rome in September of 2010, and is one of my most cherished photos. Which architectural feature never fails to draw your attention? Let me know if the comments below. #retaildesign #retailarchitect #revitalisationarchitecture

You don't always need sunshine for interior photos…. ..which is lucky for us here in the UK! 🍀 In fact the sun can sometimes hamper a photograph’s intent, as those great bars of sunlight streaking across the room can be distracting. That kind of light works in a large conservatory or orangery because that’s how they’re supposed to look. But cosy rooms are allowed to look - cosy! Margo was worried that she would miss her marketing deadline for her holiday property because of the recent constant wet weather. ⛈️ When she showed me the property over Zoom I could see that it had the kind of atmosphere that didn’t need bright light to show it off. As her cottage wasn’t too far from me, I suggested shooting the interiors ASAP to get the listing online, and capturing the exteriors at a later date. Margo was worried that the house would look dark but I assured her all would be well, and looking at the photos, you’d never know it was tipping it down outside! ☔ She now has her property launched with a set of images that show what a great place it is for a break, whatever the weather. I’ll be going back to Margo’s in a couple of weeks to capture the riverside location when, and if, the sun comes out! 🤞⛅ Click on and FOLLOW MY HASHTAG #HospitalityandLeisurePhotographer for regular posts. #MarketingDigital #HospitalityIndustry #Hospitality

North America loves its shiny glass-cladded buildings, but tragically they're killing about 1 billion birds a year in the USA, and up to 40 million in Canada. Birds can't tell the reflections in windows from open landscape the way we can, and fly right into them. The problem can become worse at night when lights inside and outside buildings add to the visual confusion. It can happen with any building, large or small — not just skyscrapers. Ecologists tell us that the problem happens with mirrored glass as well as transparent glass. We need more legislation like New York City's Local Law 15 that requires the use of patterned glass that birds can tell is a solid object. Frosted, etched, or fritted glass — which features ceramic lines or dotted marks on the surface — are available in all kinds of designs. Individual home owners can also place decal patterns on problematic windows as a retrofit.
