Pirelli – Forest Stewardship Council-certified tyres have been nominated for 'Pioneering & Innovation' at the 2025 #AutosportAwards 🏆 Earlier this year, Pirelli became the first company to produce a complete range of FSC-certified tyres for motorsport, with all the tyres used across the 2024 Formula 1 season marked with the FSC logo, a significant moment in the manufacturer’s move to being more sustainable. The FSC-certified tyres were introduced following an intense development programme that began in 2022, which showed clear results in terms of both reliability and performance. FSC certification is the latest sustainability initiative put in place by Pirelli, with all tyres brought to the track for a grand prix being transformed into secondary raw materials after use while the electrical energy used to make them comes exclusively from renewable sources. The panel saw Pirelli’s innovation as a demonstration of the “capacity to change the sport” with a “lasting impact” and the effective use of F1 as a global showcase for progress.

McLaren is no stranger to pioneering materials in F1 and was the first F1 team to race a chassis manufactured wholly from carbon fibre in 1981. In 2023, McLaren Racing’s Formula 1 team trialed the use of cutting-edge recycled carbon fibre (rCF) on the McLaren MCL60 at US Grand Prix. This was in step with the team’s goal to develop a fully circular F1 car by 2030 and to help identify and test pioneering technologies and materials on the journey towards achieving its net zero target. These are some of the environmental benefits of recycled carbon fibre (rCF): 🔹A 90% reduction in life cycle emissions compared to standard carbon fibre, the equivalent of 27 tonnes of carbon emissions for each tonne of material used. 🔹If just 1% of the carbon fibre manufactured globally in 2022 was rCF, it would save 32,535 tonnes of carbon emissions – equivalent to half of McLaren Racing’s total emissions in 2022. 🔹The manufacture of the F1 car is one of the largest contributing factors to F1 teams' overall carbon footprint. Enhancing the use of more sustainable materials therefore has huge potential to help reduce emissions. Piers Thynne, Chief Operating Officer, McLaren F1 Team, said, “The potential future applications of rCF are hugely exciting. V Carbon offers up to 85% of carbon fibre original strength, making it strong enough for a variety of applications in F1, and beyond." In the automotive industry, the high penetration of rCF is driven by both cost benefits and stringent EoL vehicle recycling guidelines in developed regions like Europe. For instance, as per the European Union's End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) Directive 2000/53/EC, all new vehicles sold in the EU must have at least 12% recycled material by weight by 2035 and 20% by 2045. We talk more about this and more in our latest whitepaper 'Carbon Fiber Recycling: A Commercial Perspective' Download now for $0👉https://lnkd.in/dwT3rzH9

Formula 1 Eco-friendly ⁉️ Yes, Formula 1 has set the ambitious goal of emitting 0️⃣ carbon emissions for the Formula 1 Championship in 2030 👣 The strategy was set out by the FIA and have began to implement more eco friendly strategies like… All waste be recycled at each event ♻️ Plants and hedges to be planted around each track to reduce engine noise 🌿 Reduce water consumption by using rainwater 🌧 A great example that is does not matter how you may be perceived. The opportunity to do right by the plant is always an option 🌍 #risetothetop

Have you ever wondered what happens to motorcycles at the end of their life? ♻️Circularity is a key pillar of ACEM’s vision 2030+, guiding us to make motorcycling greener and more sustainable. We’re thrilled to share how our industry is rising to today’s environmental challenges! 🚀 🏍️With new EU rules on the horizon, manufacturers will go beyond production, supporting recycling, recovery, and repurposing at the end of a motorcycle’s journey. 🔄💡 ❗ We're calling for a regulatory approach that supports both sustainability and competitiveness! ACEM is advocating for: 🔹 A 60-month lead time to support a smooth and sustainable transition. 🔹 Exclusions for small series motorcycles to keep the playing field fair. 🔹 A clear and fair legal framework around Producer Responsibility Organizations (PROs). 🔎 Read ACEM’s position here: https://lnkd.in/d66QxN5x ✨Discover more in the video below European Commission Francesco F. #Circulareconomy #sustainability #mobility #motorcycling
