Remember that securing an internship at an MNCs may require persistence and deliberate effort, but you can improve your chances of success by being well-prepared and using the right strategies. An important aspect for students in college to take the next step into the corporate world is accumulating job experience in the field they are earning a degree. This way students can apply what they have learned in lectures to the field before they graduate. As an accounting, economics, finance major on the financial analyst track it is critical for me to take earning an internship for this upcoming summer seriously. The engaged involvement will help me construct practical skills that will further my understanding of the industry. I was rejected by a global investment firm for a finance internship in the second year of college. Here is what I wish I would have done differently - 1. Studied thoroughly about the practical applications of academic concepts (statistics, for me). 2. Connect the work I was doing in the internship (branding) to my academic degree. 3. Followed the STAR (Situation Task Action Result) approach while answering questions. 4. Prepared better answers on transition from statistics to finance. 5. Asked better company-related questions to them rather than asking anything for the sake of it. Make sure you don't repeat the mistakes I was making and get it all right. But in case you don’t, just know that earlier rejections are the best ways to ramp up for the next best ride. #interview #placement #rejection #internship #finance #campusplacement
