I’ve read the report, and it aligns with my views on using an integrated transport approach to boost economic growth. It envisions a long-term improvement in public transport, which, if adopted, will enhance transport over the coming years or decades. However, the report lacks focus on improving road infrastructure and increasing capacity with innovative technologies like AI, which can have an immediate impact. The report references the Eddington Transport Study, noting that a 5% reduction in travel times could be worth approximately 0.2% of UK GDP. While I agree that shifting people to public transport is crucial, investing in AI today could significantly improve travel times. This would lead to more punctual bus services, higher bus usage, and better journey times for all road users, including the logistics sector. In the short term, we must make our roads more efficient for buses and other users. Our patented AI technology has proven effective in Hull, Kirklees, and Glasgow, significantly improving journey times. Juergen, we need to chat!

It's A Level results day, and we await my niece's results. In 1978, I was in the same boat, except I already had one in the bag and needed a second, which I was reasonably confident I'd get to take my place at Huddersfield Poly to study Marketing Engineering. Plus, here is a twist: I had to wait until the O Level results to see whether I had passed maths because I had failed it 2 years earlier and forgotten about it until I decided I might want to study for a degree. I learnt a big lesson from this: you need a plan Here I am, over 46 years later, still learning!

Watching the BBC News this morning highlighted a critical issue - the stranded astronauts on the ISS due to incompatible Boeing and Space X space suits. The need for interoperability poses a significant challenge as potential astronauts may need to switch between space capsules for various reasons, emphasizing the need for common sense in design. Historically, despite intense political rivalry, the Soviets and Americans prioritized safety by ensuring the ability to dock in emergencies between their space capsules. However, the current scenario raises concerns that Boeing astronauts may not have proper space suit protection for returning to Earth. Competition in the space industry and all sectors is vital for driving innovation and cost-efficiency. While competition is commendable, the absence of interoperability can impede progress and innovation and hinder market accessibility for new entrants. It is crucial to strike a balance where competition fuels advancement without compromising safety and operational efficiency.
