Try control and management instead of thinking how to stop your dog doing those things you don't like. So many people's first thought is, "How do I stop my dog..." But think about what you can do to make the behaviour impossible. If your dog raids the bin, move it to a lockable cupboard or different room. If your dog digs in the garden, fence off your flower bed or give your dog their own sandpit! If your dog can't practice a behaviour, it won't get any stronger.
