So many internships available.

❓ Did you know that applications for many Summer internships at companies with larger internship programs typically open in late Summer ☀ and early Fall 🍁 of the previous calendar year? Many of these companies actually wrap up hiring for the next summer by November! 🗓 Don't wait for Fall 2024 to begin considering your plans for Summer 2025. The planning can begin as early as you want, and can actually begin as early as tomorrow by attending sessions like these! Being prepared can have a big pay out, and Smucker's and many other employers host virtual info sessions on their internship programs and early career opportunities, so do your research and make a plan to attend! 💡

We have two user research positions open, one in NYC and one in Stockholm, and several other research or data scientist roles that may be good fits for some of my followers. Exploitation: Unpaid internships exploit the labor and skills of individuals with disabilities without providing fair compensation. 3. Limited opportunities: Unpaid internships limit opportunities for individuals with disabilities to gain valuable work experience and build their careers. 4. Perpetuating stigma: Unpaid internships perpetuate harmful stereotypes that individuals with disabilities are less capable or less deserving of fair compensation. Instead, consider offering: 1. Paid internships with accommodations and support. 2. Competitive salaries and benefits. 3. Inclusive hiring practices that value diversity and disability. 4. Mentorship and career development opportunities. 5. Accessible work environments that foster inclusion and belonging. Let's work together to create a more inclusive and equitable workplace for individuals with disabilities.

Did you know? According to a study by the National Association of Colleges and Employers, only 18.1% of interns are Hispanic or Latino. Even more concerning, Hispanic students are more likely to never have an internship, and a mere 7.9% of paid internships go to Hispanic students.   It's key to recognize the importance of paying interns, especially to attract students who equally need the experience and financial support. Many Latino and minority students work tirelessly to support themselves and their families through college, making paid internships not just beneficial but necessary. By offering paid internships, companies can level the playing field and provide valuable opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds to gain hands-on experience, build professional networks, and pave the way for future career success. For my fiends hiring interns…have we considered who we are hiring? Diversifying industries isn’t something that happens from one day to the next.
