Issue is all algorithms are dumb. They’re glorified if, else and sum statements that are only as smart as the product managers. Most product managers are increasingly MBAs that care about short term bottom line because that’s what their KPIs are. This is bad for the company long term. 1/2/3 being promoted is the result of this. 5/6/7 don’t get enough attention but that’s just a function of how humans think and interact. If I made a 5/6/7 post with an element of 2(the picture, not the useless part) just like you did, it would get more interest same as you have. As social companies switch to machine learning feeds to promote more engagement and higher quality content, they forget that their training dataset and their test dataset are both biased by the fact that they already promote low effort or inflammatory garbage. Garbage in, garbage out. It’s frustrating. It’s reality. The only solution is redoing the dataset by putting in the work. Use humans to hand select post. Use a large number of humans from different walks of life to reduce bias. That’s bad for the bottom line. It requires a restart. An overhaul of what everyone is comfortable with.

However, with the increasing number of personal photos appearing everywhere, it makes me wonder if LinkedIn is slowly turning into the new Facebook! 🤷♀️ No offense, but I am not particularly interested in scrolling through your family vacation photos or pictures of your adorable pets on LinkedIn. So annoying. I posted on FB about an issue I was having and asked my connections who I trust for guidance. Suddenly, people I am not connected to commented, called me and texted me. My response: Thanks, but no thanks. I am not comfortable giving my info to someone who will troll my posts but not reach out and connect, for personal or business purposes. Since social media is for the act of 'being social' I am connected to many people who are able to assist me, and since we are connected, I trust them a bit more, and we share connections and resources, and that works great for me. It is wonderful when people use social media platforms to be social and we don't have to worry about spamming others or cold calls interrupting people's days. Like, either you want to be social or you just hanging out waiting to spam me. I have connections who do the work, and we share a resource. Why on earth do I need FB to allow people to spam my page, my email and my phone? Very annoying! #DontSpamMe #besocial #ConnectionsDontSpam  

Ok guys I noticed something. For like 1 month all my posts had no impressions. Like no impression at all, if all I would see only 3 impression.  This really got me worried as per what happened🤷♂️ Where I'm I getting it wrong😫 Did I change the settings on LinkedIn 🤔 But as of this week, impressions started coming back to normal. heheheh 🤭🤭😁(you can imagine my relief) What was I doing before that I stopped doing that changed everything. 💥Engaging on other people's posts  was the only bomb that I stopped planting. Main reason ???? I got some big gigs 😊 which are currently consuming my time from LinkedIn(This is a big story for some other day). The untapped potential of Saved Items. At least 10x a day, I find myself Saving a post on LinkedIn. Something resonates with me and I want to bookmark it, so I don't forget it. It's the most consistent LinkedIn habit I have. And yet, I find myself hunting for those Saved Items anew every week, hidden somewhere in my Profile and always last on the list behind Job alerts (that I've probably looked at twice in 10 years). Unless I'm an edge case and nobody uses LinkedIn the same way I do, why make it so hard to find I wonder. It's my little treasure trove of insights; a sort of scrapbook of interestingness. I wish it were organized better. And that other similar thoughts were recommended to me based on what I stored in there. If only there was a technology that was good at synthesizing lots of data, organizing it, and recognizing it's patterns... 🤔 It's too busy rewriting everything I say.
