Central government instructs States and Union Territories to ban 23 breeds of 'ferocious dogs' deemed dangerous for human life. Decision follows assurance to Delhi High Court in December 2023 to address demand for ban on licenses for dangerous dog breeds. Expert Committee chaired by Animal Husbandry Commissioner identifies listed breeds as posing risks. Committee recommends prohibition on import, breeding, and selling of listed breeds for all purposes. Local bodies and Department of Animal Husbandry urged not to issue licenses for sale or breeding of listed breeds. Existing pets of listed breeds to be sterilized to prevent further breeding. Move stems from numerous citizen representations and animal welfare organization demands, as well as legal proceedings. Emphasis on public safety and responsible pet ownership. https://lnkd.in/g_gq8bQy

🌍🐾 Today is World Animal Welfare Day! Let’s join hands to ensure every animal is treated with kindness, compassion, and respect. From protecting wildlife to advocating for better treatment of pets and farm animals, we can make a difference! 🌱🐶🐱 The Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) study system plays a critical role in promoting animal welfare, particularly on occasions like World Animal Welfare Day. GLP ensures that laboratory testing involving animals is conducted ethically, with strict adherence to protocols that minimize suffering and prioritize animal care. It mandates rigorous standards for humane treatment, reducing unnecessary duplication of experiments, and promoting the 3Rs principle: Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement of animal use in research. On World Animal Welfare Day, GLP underscores the global commitment to responsible scientific practices, highlighting the importance of ethical research while advancing scientific knowledge. ❤️ #WorldAnimalWelfareDay #AnimalRights #BeTheirVoice #ProtectOurAnimals #EndAnimalCruelty #GLP #CRO #KRISHBIOTECH

Two weeks ago, it was a great time for sharing as Dr. Sunday Agbonika DVM, CHAIS had the pleasure of being invited to the Effective Altruism Nigeria Summit. Presenting what we do at Dogalov as the Founder, on the topic, Cage Free Africa, especially on the problems and ways to improve. He also shared perspectives on Animal Welfare and how it translates to better human well-being, from sentience, which is the capacity to have subjective experiences with positive or negative valence to how the 5 freedoms play a role in ensuring Good Animal Welfare. A snippet, are you aware that animals are slaughtered humanely, and their meats taste better than those treated inhumanely? Yes! Generally, animal cruelty should not be welcomed in our spaces. You can make a great impact driven by evidence and reason as we do. We also had one of our team members, Dr. Praise Akobo join the summit as a participant. Let's embrace animal welfare as a collective and collaborative effort. #animalwelfare #humanwellbeing #dogalov Enriching Human Lives in Africa through Pets!

🌟 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 14 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 2010/63/𝗘𝗨 🌟 Advancing Animal Welfare in Scientific Research On September 22, 2010, the European Parliament and the Council adopted Directive 2010/63/EU on the protection of animals used for scientific purposes. This directive has played a crucial role in: 🐭 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵. 🐭 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀. 🐭 𝗘𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆. 🐭 𝗘𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴. We’re also celebrating 12 years since the directive became part of the national laws in the Member States, a significant step in harmonizing animal welfare across Europe. Reflecting on the progress made over the past 14 years, it is important to continue supporting Member States efforts to refine, reduce, and replace animal testing in scientific research. #3Rs #AnimalWelfare #ScientificResearch #EthicalScience #Directive201063EU

I want to share my thoughts on a recent statement made during the Veterinarians Syndicate meeting. It's essential to address some key issues regarding animal welfare and practices in Egypt. The claim that learning surgery requires practice raises an important question: Do we really perform surgeries on humans while risking their well-being? The difference between humans and animals shouldn't only be about the fear of legal consequences. We need clear laws to protect animal welfare in Egypt. Regarding cooperation with shelters, it's crucial to clarify that shelters do not engage in these practices, as agreed upon by animal welfare organizations. The animals they take are often captured from the streets, including healthy dogs. If the doctor states that a dog is "dead, dead," there's nothing more to add. However, all the dogs that were received were in good health. Why isn’t there cooperation to protect these animals? Why isn’t the law being enforced? Why do some individuals lack compassion? I have many unanswered questions, but I will continue to pursue legal action until I can help these animals. May God protect these vulnerable creatures from harm. #Mercy #LegalAction #AnimalLaw #Egypt

The RSPCA celebrates its 200th birthday this year. The Royal Society For The Protection Of Cruelty To Animals is the oldest animal protection organisation in the UK, and possibly the world. This year they've launched a project, called #AnimalFutures. This project looks a 5 possible future scenarios, set in 2050. These 5 scenarios range from a dystopian tech-based future, where we keep cyber-pets, and animal welfare is a low priority, due to the world we've come to live in. This steps through to a scenario when we can communicate with animals. We learn a lot more about how certain pets feel about humans, leading to a decrease in pet ownership. What's missing here is that there's no step through in how technology might be used. It's just there as the worst case scenario. However the communication with animals can only come about through technology. There's room for all scenarios, or elements of each. We need to think harder about becoming responsible and accountable pet parents. A cyber-pet might be a better option for some people, who have the option to switch off their pet when they're bored with it. Conversely, pet parents will relish the prospect of a real-life pet that they can communicate clearly with, so they can provide them with exactly what the need. There's also the possibilities of owning a cyber-pet and a real-life pet. Imagine you have a 12 year old German Shepherd Dog with painful back problems. Your #cyberpet can alleviate all of your heavy lifting work, like getting your dog onto the couch, getting into and out of the car, or getting up and downstairs. What do you think? How do you see our world, as far as pets are concerned? https://lnkd.in/edXftHmR
