Top tier Legend - the McLaren F1! As we know, each F1 has some sort of story. Whether it is a racing history, an interesting ownership history or a build history. Chassis 022 is no exception either. It was originally ordered by Thomas Bscher in 1994. You may know the name, as Bscher piloted a F1 GTR to several wins, including winning the Global & European GT Championships. Oh, Bscher also went on to head Bugatti and was responsible for the introduction of the Veyron. As for the car itself, it started life finished in Genesis Dark Blue. It wasn't a garage queen either. Bscher frequently commuted with it, being said that he routinely surpassed 200mph on the Autobahn. He notoriously drove it hard. In 2003, it was sold to Miles Collier who sent it back to McLaren MSO (McLaren Customer Care back then) for a $300k restoration. The finish was changed to the green you see here, though it should be noted it doesn't technically have an official name. Sage, Metallic Green and Money Green have all been used to describe the color. It has metallic flakes in it that really give it a beautiful sheen in the sunlight. On the interior, it is trimmed in tan leather. Making this example a truly classic spec. In 2008, Collier founded the Revs Institute in Naples, Florida to display some of the finest cars in the world. Chassis 022 being one of them. Though, in this photo the car was out and about during the Amelia Island Concours. #Londonconcours 4-6th June don't miss out on on Tuesday 4th June, the London Concours pays homage to one of the greatest names in motorsport and performance car history: McLaren. A name established and enduring in the top tiers of global motor racing, McLaren road cars bring a track-focused approach to supercar design. Any road car lineage that begins with the McLaren F1 – arguably the greatest supercar ever built – is bound to be special. And despite nearly 20 years passing before the next McLaren road car would arrive, with the MP4-12C in 2011, none of the magic was lost. A mighty twin-turbo V8 and a bespoke carbon fibre tub formed the basis of that car and a number that would follow it. In this display we chart the evolution from F1 to MP4-12C to hybrid hypercar innovator, the P1, and on to rarities like the coachbuilt Elva. It’s a visual storytelling of the genesis of the modern McLaren range, which includes like the plug-in hybrid Artura or extreme engineering masterpieces like the Senna GTR and Speedtail.

If I were the head of INDYCAR I would do anything to race at Monaco the day before or day after F1. Indy cars on that track would be epic and might actually get people watching Indy. - Smaller enough to make a difference - No power steering - Refueling - Fewer pit crew members - More liberal DRS rules It would be a vastly better race than the current F1 Monaco offering. Of course, F1 would never let that happen since it would show how much Monaco has been neutered by huge, computerized cars. Option 2: F1 should run Monaco with F1 cars from the mid-1980’s.

After the first two weekends of the year dominated by Red Bull and #Verstappen, the #AustralianGP offered a different scenario which was clear from Friday. Sainz’s pace was very fast, and without Verstappen's retirement, he would have certainly fought for the victory. This is why Sainz's win wasn't a one-off lucky shot.  The #SF24 showed the best compromise among all the top teams on track: the car generated high downforce in all fast corners, a ‘good’ top speed and, especially, high mechanical grip in the last sector.  The team made a set of good decisions to suit the car to both drivers’ driving styles. First of all, they stiffened the front suspension to make the front axle more reactive in all the slow hairpins and improving the behavior of the car in the last sector.  A crucial step in the weekend was made on Saturday FP3: #Ferrari’s engineers decided to adopt the one-element beam wing (right part of the drawing below) to slightly reduce drag in the long straights, matching #RedBull’s top speeds in the second sector without compromising the whole balance of the car. Moreover, conscious of the higher temperatures expected for the race on Sunday, they chose to slightly shift the balance to the rear end of the car. Thanks to the high level of downforce and the great mechanical grip, the SF-24 was able to generate enough temperature both on the front axle and the rear axle to prevent graining, thus being the quickest during the race on Sunday. If Ferrari can confirm their performance and be right behind Red Bull in Japan, they might get closer during the season with a series of upgrades to make the SF-24 race pace even quicker. If this happens, the Constructors’ Championship won’t be a faraway dream for the Italian team, which has proved to be prepared to seize any opportunity, converting every opponent's debacle into victory. Silver bullet - the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR Roadster! Car Week has come and gone, but it left us with some memorable cars. And this is one of them: CLK GTR Roadster Chassis 3 of only 6 ever made. An example that sold for just North of $10 million at auction in Vegas last year during F1 GP weekend. Boden AutoHaus prepared this example for the owner for Monterey Car Week. Giving it the white glove treatment. A top to bottom treatment, bringing that factory finished Brilliant Silver Metallic to life. A set of HRE Vintage 501 wheels in clear polish were installed to give the car a fresh look. Powering the CLK GTR Roadster is a meaty 6.9L V12 producing around 610hp. That power is sent to the wheels via a 6-speed Xtrac sequential. This was good for a solid 3.8 second 0-60mph and a top speed North of 200mph. Truly a unicorn car. ***Now, to clear up some internet confusion of sorts. No, the CLK GTR did not "take flight" at Le Mans. That was the follow-up CLR racecar that was involved in those incidents. For all intents & purposes, the CLK GTR was a dominant track weapon that won 17 of 22 races it was fielded in, taking home two Driver's Championships and two Constructor's Championships. How McLaren has offered a glimpse of its future with new F1 rear wing concept https://lnkd.in/eADZ5udW McLaren introduced a new rear wing at Formula 1’s Belgian Grand Prix that signals a shift in concept direction and moves it closer to what Red Bull is doing. The wing is not only the lowest downforce variant that the Woking-based squad has run on its MCL38 so far this year, but is believed to be the first of a new suite of options with this idea that will be rolled out for different track types as they appear on the calendar. We usually categorise the rear wings presented by teams into three simple categories: low, medium and high downforce variants. But inevitably, given the variety of the circuits on the calendar, there is a little more to it than that, with some adaptability baked into how each of those arrangements might be configured. Teams now are increasingly balancing out the downforce/drag of their rear wings with their beam wing solution too, as these can help fine-tune the car balance to hit the sweet spot. Furthermore, the chord length of the upper flap, whether there’s a Gurney flap applied to the trailing edge of the flap or not, plus the shape of the tip section and endplate cutout, are all means of modifying a given wing to suit specific demands (...).
