Top tier Legend - the McLaren F1! As we know, each F1 has some sort of story. Whether it is a racing history, an interesting ownership history or a build history. Chassis 022 is no exception either. It was originally ordered by Thomas Bscher in 1994. You may know the name, as Bscher piloted a F1 GTR to several wins, including winning the Global & European GT Championships. Oh, Bscher also went on to head Bugatti and was responsible for the introduction of the Veyron. As for the car itself, it started life finished in Genesis Dark Blue. It wasn't a garage queen either. Bscher frequently commuted with it, being said that he routinely surpassed 200mph on the Autobahn. He notoriously drove it hard. In 2003, it was sold to Miles Collier who sent it back to McLaren MSO (McLaren Customer Care back then) for a $300k restoration. The finish was changed to the green you see here, though it should be noted it doesn't technically have an official name. Sage, Metallic Green and Money Green have all been used to describe the color. It has metallic flakes in it that really give it a beautiful sheen in the sunlight. On the interior, it is trimmed in tan leather. Making this example a truly classic spec. In 2008, Collier founded the Revs Institute in Naples, Florida to display some of the finest cars in the world. Chassis 022 being one of them. Though, in this photo the car was out and about during the Amelia Island Concours. One of the finest examples out there. #mclaren #f1 #supercar #legend #v12 #iconic #performance #speed #uk 🇬🇧 #Anis_Maaouia

The McLaren F1 is indeed a marvel of automotive engineering, and it’s no surprise that it leaves a lasting impression every time you see one. Its unique design, featuring the central driving position, was a groundbreaking concept that showcased both McLaren’s and Gordon Murray’s innovative approach to car design. The collaboration with BMW provided a powerful engine that complemented the car’s exceptional engineering. It’s a testament to the vision and craftsmanship that went into creating a vehicle that continues to captivate car enthusiasts around the world. Each encounter with this car is like a fresh revelation as if laying eyes on it for the very first time. Its rarity only adds to the allure, ensuring that every sighting is as impactful as the initial unveiling.

Love the F1s, the design is timeless. Crazy to think but sometimes the side profile reminds me of a shorted, condensed Porsche 917. Either way these have been and will be an all time blue chip collectible in the past, present and the future.

I have to say this colour scheme is brilliant and was a pleasure to build this car

I’m sure I remember Bscher telling Car Magazine of a remote service check where the car’s ECU was connected to MacLaren in U.K. via a modem. The MacLaren technicians assumed there was a fault with either the connection or the ECU due to the evidence of repeated instances of 200mph+. Bscher assured them that the data was correct and commented that the F1 got him to the office as quickly as his helicopter could.

‘Money green’ seems appropriate. 💚

Thomas was the reason we tested all cars at Bruntingthorp air field runway down the runway at 220 mph with an emergency stop between cones to indicate the carriageway width to ensure they were safe at this speed on public roads. The fastest I remember he went on the way to work was 215 mph. !

The lines of the F1 really do lend itself to the phrase. "Looks like it's going a 100 miles an hour standing still"
