*Attention please* Posting for Community Health Environment Empowerment Organisation (C.H.E.E.O). Among other items, I previously cowrote and costed a Sustainability Proposal and Budget for their fundraising activities. These items included a two year Action Plan for an interdependent sustainability project (e.g. the three pillars - health / environment / economic - rural income generating activities) for a specific community region in Uganda, Africa, close to where C.H.E.E.O operate. We showed how the defined 'real outcomes' would address the initial assessment of their 'specific problems'; and 'which SDGs' these real community outcomes would meet (defined via collaborative consultation with C.H.E.E.O, community leaders and non-profit international steering group arm). C.H.E.E.O work on the ground based on real community outcomes for rural areas, which is essential (with everything going via community leaders). Without revealing too much: the project focuses on things like education, social care, healthcare, vulnerability programmes, resilience, health and environment education/equipment, equity and access, healthy/native food programmes & markets that address specific gaps, clean and safer water access, and so much more. Should you wish to donate a little to support this valuable community project that C.H.E.E.O continue to take forward (as i am not working, but previously contributed heavily), please do so by adding your 'pledge for donation' to their form, to donate below. C.H.E.E.O and our business positive arm, appreciate it. From C.H.E.E.O: “Thank you again for your kindness in offering to make a very generous donation to CHEEO. Kindly complete the questionnaire at this link to commence the process of verifying your identity: https://lnkd.in/eCxGMjXx. The questionnaire is in 3 sections - click "Next" or "Back" at the bottom of a section to move between the sections and don't forget to click "Submit" once you have completed the questionnaire. We will be in touch once we have received your responses to the questionnaire”

Chief Insight Officer. Exceptional UK NHS & healthcare insight. Proven commercial acumen. Passionate about partnering to accelerate NHS innovation adoption, improving population health and use of NHS resources.
7 for 7. What needs to be done to tackle ingrained health inequality? In the poorest areas, the gap is getting wider, and the UK has one of the biggest disparities in the developed world between rich and poor. This new report from IPPR highlights the 7 year difference in healthy life expectancy between the richest and poorest areas, and has come up with a "7 for 7" initiative (see infograph) on what 7 focus themes will help close that gap. The introduction of HEALTH AND PROSPERITY IMPROVEMENT ZONES is one of these ideas..... This is truly an integrated care system challenge that requires all statutory agencies, local businesses, industry, charities, and crucially, the communities most affected and local individuals, to work together on an asset-based community development driven model to empower the change. Read the full report here for the "how to" and exemplar work from around the country (and the 2 preceding reports on the IPPR website): https://lnkd.in/eq2y885u #CORE20PLUS5 #GSK #Astrazeneca #Gilead #Bristolmyerssquibb #janssen #Abbvie #BHF #AlzheimersSociety #ImpactonUrbanHealth #IPPR #Partnershipworking #HAPIZ

The use of insecticide-treated nets (#ITNs) is one of the most effective #vectorcontrol methods, and key to reducing #malariatransmission🦟 Yet ITN usage can be low, even when communities have access to nets. That’s why we’re pleased to be partnering with The Behavioural Insights Team (supported by philanthropic funding via GiveWell) to investigate the reasons behind the low uptake of ITNs in Nigeria and Uganda, where fewer than 59 percent of the population sleep under ITNs regularly. Using these data, we aim to create a behaviourally informed intervention and work towards a future where communities are better protected from #malaria.💪 Read our project brief here ➡️ https://brnw.ch/21wLCaJ

We all know someone who said it is useless to invest in African communities. Let's debunk this notion by digitizing our towns and villages. How? We Earth (www.weearth.co.za) is a social artificial intelligent platform that empowers communities to address their challenges and achieve sustainable development. Here's how it works: 1. Identifying community needs: We Earth's platform prompts communities to collaborate and identify their common challenges. This could be anything from lack of access to clean water to inadequate healthcare or infrastructure. 2. Connecting with resources: Once the challenges are identified, the platform connects communities with potential funders, such as corporations, NGOs, and local organizations with the resources to address them. These funders are presented with the challenges in a structured format, making it easier for them to understand and contribute. 3. Collaborative project development: Together with the community and the funders, We Earth facilitates the development of impactful restoration projects. These projects prioritise using local businesses as service providers, fostering economic growth within the community. 4. Community rewards and recognition: As a token of appreciation for their active participation and problem-solving, communities are rewarded with 30% of the donated funds in the form of Ubuntu points. These points can be used to redeem various benefits within the platform, further empowering the community. By addressing social issues head-on, We Earth's platform aims to create a safer and more sustainable environment for businesses and communities alike. This fosters a mutually beneficial cycle where communities thrive, businesses prosper, and the environment is protected.

Samfundssind. Have you heard this Danish word? In March 2020, at the start of the pandemic, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen urged all Danes to show samfundssind, which means Consider the needs of society above your own. The concept is related to what researchers call social capital. High levels mean you feel connected to and trust your fellow citizens more. Not Danish? You can still do it. With community engagement and volunteering, you set a good example and strengthen communities by inspiring others to do the same. Don't have the time? Make this one simple shift. In your future disagreements, ask people to “help me understand your perspective”. Feeling understood builds trust. And trust is at the core of social capital. It's amazing how a word buried in history helped Danes mobilise during the pandemic, flattening the curve and lifting community spirit. So, will you show samfundssind?

We have launched a new State of the Sector survey, in partnership with Devon County Council, as part of a wider project to understand the strengths and challenges of voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations across Devon, including Torbay and Plymouth. Data from this survey, along with interviews and group discussions, will help us paint an authoritative picture of the VCSE sector in Devon, beyond what can be learned through already-published information. It will show the sector’s range and scope, and the contribution it makes to improving the lives of Devon residents, but also the challenges faced, for example in achieving sustainable funding, or in recruiting and retaining staff and volunteers. We plan to build a model that can be revisited every couple of years, to show changes and trends. The survey will be open until Friday 4th October, and we encourage as many registered charities and social enterprises as possible to complete it, so that the dataset is as representative as possible. We expect the survey to take between 20 and 25 minutes to complete. All information is anonymous and cannot be traced to individual organisations. We are looking to build a broad-brush picture of the sector as a whole. As such, we acknowledge that there are parts of the survey which may feel reductive or restrictive, or that don’t quite apply to your organisation. The data is still of value, so please approach this as a ‘best fit’ exercise, and if a question really doesn’t feel relevant to your organisation, you can always leave it blank. Insights from the survey data, and the wider project, will be published in the winter, and the full datasets will be made available for others to use for their own analysis. We are planning to develop a mechanism for understanding the important contribution of unregistered and unincorporated groups soon. We hope the information and learning generated through this project will be useful throughout the sector, to commissioners, funders and other public sector partners, as well as informing our own grantmaking. You can complete the survey via the link below, and please share with any relevant organisations. https://lnkd.in/e9RnvbS7
