Join me at the Stockholms Handelskammare on April 17th for the third Stockholm Sustainability Summit, part of Sustainable City. Together with Connected Places Catapult we will explore how we can harness data and make it accessible when developing sustainable cities. https://lnkd.in/gE4B93MS "Data is the new gold" claims our sustainability officer Elise Grosse and I tend to agree! In cities around the world, researchers and decision-makers are working to understand how we can collect and make data available to improve urban life. As the ambition for cities' adaptation and development becomes more data-driven, the need for research on how we can process and use the volume of data that cities generate every day is increasing. At the same time, businesses are breaking new ground in how we can use data in creative and innovative ways. Opportunities to better plan, design, and refine our cities for today's citizens and tomorrow's challenges will be crucial-so let's start mining our data! #ConnectedConnected Places Catapult #stockholmshandelskammare #sweco #transformingsocietytogether Paul Wilson Pru Ashby Anna König Jerlmyr Andreas Hatzigeorgiou, PhD Srihaarika Vijjappu Kristofer Ågren Daniella Waldfogel

It was a pleasure to participate in the 3rd #ESG Conference, hosted by CLEON Conferences & Communications presenting Nova 's initiative to relocate to sustainable buildings, renovated with ESG criteria, including ➡ reuse and recycling of materials, ➡ new heating-cooling and ventilation systems, ➡ full accessibility and ➡ improvement of proximity, that reduces the carbon footprint of commuting, while facilitating employee collaboration. Kudos to Andreas Bilalis and his team for making this happen. Building reusability, especially for premises that are part of the city’s urban footprint such as Nova’s Leoforos Athinon, Kallithea and Kolonos buildings, is a sustainable practice directly contributing to United Nations SDG 11 (sustainable cities) which combats urban desertification. Joining the very interesting panel that followed, the #ESGfinancing outlook for Greek enterprises was analyzed together with co-panelists Dimitris Skalkos, General Secretary of Public Investments and ESPA, Ministry of National Economy and Finance, Fotis Kourmousis and Natalia Bolou. #sustainablecities #ESGtransformation #telco #conference #environment

Doing more good and a mindset change towards regenerative design and systems thinking is where we must be to enable a resilent thriving planet för people nature and businesses. Check out the support Ramboll and partners have developed to assist in this journey by sharing learnings. #regenerativedesign #letsclosethegap #ramboll #actnow
How can we create a regenerative city? Really excited to share the follow up report from the workshop I attended earlier in the year: “Creating a Regenerative City: Insights from the CLC-Ramboll Urban Lab” Launched yesterday by Ramboll and the Centre for Liveable Cities the report is a compilation of different articles from Søren Brøndum, Hossein Rezai, Trine Stausgaard Munk and me. The report was also informed by Singapore government stakeholders who co-led the lab and discussions. Take a look at some of our thoughts and ideas on this complex subject. You can read more on our findings here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dQRJqZPE The image is an attempt to show the messy transition towards regenerative thinking. Not everything will be positive, but I think if we are making holistic progress then we'll get there in the end. #ramboll #letsclosethegap #regenerativethinking #regenerativedesign

Kudos to BillionBricks! EVES ENERGY custom-made #algae #bricks for #decarbonization #offset #offtake Algae bricks exhibit a compressive strength of >12 MPa and are designed to be carbon-neutral, with the potential for carbon negativity through their production process, which emits only 10% of the CO2 associated with traditional concrete manufacturing. They are expected to last as long as traditional bricks, often exceeding 100 years of durability. Cost estimates for algae bricks aim to be comparable to traditional bricks, which typically range from $1.50 to $3.00 per unit. Both types of bricks offer similar thermal performance, with thermal conductivity values around 0.5 W/m·K, and meet relevant certification standards such as ASTM guidelines, positioning algae bricks as a more #sustainable option in construction that could significantly lower the #carbon footprint of building projects.

Counsel at Luther. | Country Head Vietnam | Vice-Chair of the EuroCham Legal Sector Committee (Vietnam)
♻️ Green is the new black 🌱 💚 Ho Chi Minh City is choosing green growth as its future development strategy, seeking funding for almost 30 priority projects to help achieve economic prosperity and environmental sustainability. 🙏🏼 The city wishes to promote innovation initiatives and multinational cooperation, calling for private investment to gradually transition to a greener and more sustainable economy, it was announced at a green investment promotion conference organised in coordination with the World Bank last week. 📌 Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has issued a list of 28 projects seeking investment to promote green growth. Of those, three high-tech manufacturing projects in electronics and semiconductors require more than $178 million. The city is also calling for funding for a data centre project worth over $300 million. 💰 The metropolis also seeks investment for research and development projects in electronics and semiconductors of about $8.7 million, and supporting industrial production projects with high technology of $14.3 million. 💡 Investment is also wanted for a number of projects in Thu Thiem New Urban Area such as a financial, commercial, and residential area costing $500 million; an exhibition, hotel, and trade complex worth $70 million, and a central square and riverbank park with capital of $220 million. 🛣️ In addition, there are projects to upgrade and expand major routes such as National Highway 13, National Highway 22, Thu Thiem 4 Bridge, Can Gio Bridge, and Ho Chi Minh City-Moc Bai Expressway. 🌊 Ho Chi Minh City is also looking for cash for five projects in wastewater treatment, environmental improvement, and urban embellishment. 🔥The latest research results published by the Institute of Environment and Natural Resources under the Ho Chi Minh City National University have showed that the city releases average annual total greenhouse gas emissions of around 60 million tonnes of CO2, mainly from industrial production, traffic, and living activities. At the same time, the city is also facing the negative effects of climate change, environmental pollution, resource shortages and economic crisis. 🤝🏼 Ho Chi Minh City and The World Bank Bank a joint working group two years ago and have had some results, such as a $650 million investment package for a 10-year programme, an investment scheme to upgrade public assets, and an integrated flood management scheme. 🎯 The World Bank is committed to supporting Ho Chi Minh City in accessing financial resources and attracting foreign resources to reduce carbon emissions. According to Turk, the carbon credit market is a good resource, and she hopes that Ho Chi Minh City can sell credits on the voluntary carbon market. https://lnkd.in/dx_-UbVC

Strategic urban development and spatial planning. Social sustainability and mobility. Governance and Innovation.
In order to reach impact, beyond projects - scaling is a vital mechanism. This is of strategic importance both for Viable Cities and for Driving Urban Transitions Partnership What’s your take on this?
Sector lead for Buildings & Cities - Sustainability, ESG, Real Estate, Urban Development - Board Chair RICS Denmark
Crucial topic that will be discussed by my colleague Christine Lunde Rasmussen in Aalborg this week at the European Conference on Sustainable Cities & Towns! Check it out ↘️ https://lnkd.in/dWHba9wU 🏯 #ramboll #sustainablecities #heritage #socialsustainability
What is the human desires and perspectives when transforming our buildings and neighbourhoods? How do we ensure we not only balance public regulations, financial targets, environment and biodiversity needs but that our solutions also express identities and desires of residents - present and if possible future? And that our solutions provide social value not just to buildings and local communities - but to society at a large? In this core this a a question not just of design, but of process and decison-making, of governance and data. And it is not a question to be answered alone and brief posts. So do you want to hear more? Then join us in Aalborg on Wednedsday 2nd October at 14 PM for a panel discussion of the tension between Nice and Necessary. I will talk about delivering on social perspectives - and what this implies - in a panel with Henriette Thuen (DI), Dr. Banu Pekol (BMW Foundation) and Kerry Zander (City of Wismar). Thanks to ICLEI Europe (Gioele Racca) for setting this important dialogue as part of the 10th European Conference on Sustainable Cities and Towns on 1-3 October 2024.
