Submarine cables are laid down by using specially modified ships (sometimes even purpose built ships) that carry the submarine cable on board and slowly lay it out on the seabed as per the charts/plans given by the cable operator. #52networks #submarine #cables #underwatercable #installation #testing #usa

Ensuring offshore cable reliability is our priority at NKT. Through various monitoring solutions and marine inspection surveys, we gather crucial data to prevent, prepare for, and mitigate cable failures. Inspection surveys provide valuable insights into the physical condition of your cables and associated risks. By identifying potential issues early, we mitigate risks and prevent failures, ensuring uninterrupted power transmission. Want to learn more about how we can ensure the health of your cables? Construction is still underway at the Clarke Creek Wind Farm and BDS Mechanical is still on site! Here are some facts about the wind farm: 🔧 There are now 10 turbines fully erected with another 25 well underway 🔧 The 4.5MW turbines stand at 207 metres tall and are built with 13 components, including three 76.2m blades The Tower Erection has 3 stages: 1. Stage one involves offloading all major components from their transportation and installing tower section one. Sixteen crane lifts using two cranes are required, including a 500t crane capable of lifting 124 tonnes 2. Stage two involves the pre-installation of turbine sections two to four, electrical cabinets, internal lift and other accessories, requiring 12 crane lifts 3. Stage three involves the installation of turbine sections five to seven, the nacelle, generator and finally, the rotor. A 144m crane capable of lifting 150 tonnes is used to achieve this We are excited to continue working alongside this project and with Squadron Energy 🤝 Facts retrieved from https://lnkd.in/gw3Gkrqe

"The application of wind-assisted propulsion systems (WAPSs) across a variety of vessel types is nearing a “tipping point” with deployment likely to increase rapidly, according to a new study from Lloyd’s Register. The British classification society is warning however that the lack of standardisation for verifying fuel savings and concerns about equipment availability need to be addressed. With the industry close to achieving 100 installations and the orderbook reflecting the diversity of vessel types employing WAPSs, along with increasingly substantial deployments as technologies move beyond prototype and pilot phases, the absence of a standard for verifying potential fuel savings is creating uncertainty for operators looking to select solutions, the authors of the 43-page report maintain. With wind propulsion deployment likely to increase rapidly, driven by growing shipyard and operator familiarity with solutions, scaling up the supply chain to meet expected demand is a potential challenge, LR stated." - Splash Maritime and Offshore News (splash247.com) #shipsandshipping #maritime #maritimeindustry #shipping
