COMPANIES: Here's how you can stand out to potential employees and stand up for maternal health

A common thread here is a focus on outcomes - we aren’t seeing them for people giving birth in the U.S. one thing that can happen is using internationally consensus-driven metrics for clinical and life quality outcomes as the back one of our data systems. Doing so will identify where change is needed, for whom, and allow providers across the care team to focus on and measure improvement in health and wellbeing for those pregnant and birthing individuals. Better outcomes, less risk and waste, proficient and satisfied workforce, happier moms and babies, less long term cost. That’s health equity. #Menopause in the workplace isn't a new subject. We just kept it quiet or suffered the water cooler fodder when symptoms crept up. How many people remember the woman who wore short sleeve to combat hot flashed and would suffer the consequence of not adhering to the dress code? The office royal rumble over the thermostat? A total brain fart in the middle of a meeting? How about unexplainable anxiety in a coworker? The stigma of living through the symptoms at work are not new. According to a recent Mercer survey, "fifteen percent of large organizations, up from just 4% last year, indicate they are either currently offering or plan to offer benefits intended to help women experiencing menopausal symptoms". It's a small step in progress, but more can be done. Flexible dress codes, support with climate control, education and understanding are small steps an employer can take to help normalize a medical issue almost every women will experience.
