The Utah LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce strongly supports President Biden's Title IX protections for transgender youth. We denounce the Utah Legislature's decision to ignore these vital protections, which jeopardize the well-being of our transgender students. Transgender youth deserve to feel safe and supported in their educational environments. By refusing to implement these protections, the Legislature is choosing discrimination over inclusion and placing federal funding for our schools at risk. We urge state leaders to prioritize the rights and dignity of all students and to cease using transgender children as political pawns. We call on our community to elevate their voices in dissent of this decision. For small business owners, consider becoming a member of the LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce to stay informed on these issues as well as others affecting our community. Or you can become an Ambassador in our Ambassadorship program. Think again. - Trans people are twice as likely as other LGBTQ+ people to have been subjected to conversion practices. - Nearly half of trans people who have been subjected to conversion practices experienced them at the hands of a religious organisation. - More than a quarter of Black trans people and more than a quarter of Asian trans people have been subjected to conversion practices. #BCT #BanConversionTherapy #Trans
