BEST KEPT SECRETS
I love a hidden gem, especially when I travel. One of my favourites, tucked away on the cliffs of Capri, is the Hotel Caeser Augustus. The boutique hotel has a private pool, overlooking breathtaking views of the Bay of Naples, Vesuvius and the Amalfi coast.
I completely understand the desire for seclusion and privacy. Which is why I know that there are times when a property has to be off-market.
There are many reasons as to why this is the case, especially when a vendor is in the public arena. There may be too much risk personally or professionally, it could make them incredibly vulnerable, and there might be substantial security ramifications. Therefore, there is no other option but to do a private sale.
In this case, private needs to be private. The point is that it remains a secret. Unfortunately, this isn’t always the case.
There is a reason you don’t see the names of a few select highly-experienced agents, who are at the top of the market, in the media when there is a private sale. Because they understand the need for discretion over the need for publicity, and they firmly hold the line on that.
Just as the loudest voice in the room is not always the wisest, sometimes the reputation and quietly-achieved results of an agent speak volumes, way louder than any amount of PR can.
If privacy is of utmost importance to you, the secret is to choose wisely.
