" Beautiful Molecular For personal care " **************************************** #Lauric Acid Emulsifier: # Lauric acid is used as an intermediate and surface-active agent in industry and in the manufacture of personal care products in the consumer market. lauric acid as dodecanoic acid, apart from being a saturated fatty acid. It is as a bright white, powdery solid with a faint odor of baby oil or soap. Also, we may also term the salts and esters of lauric acid as laureates. This acid has its origin in various vegetable fats, particularly in coconut and palm kernel oils. Apparently, lauric acid makes its availability less expensive as compared to many other fatty acids. It even provides a long-shelf life, it is considered as nontoxic and safe for handling. Besides, lauric acid acts as an emulsifier for the production of various personal care formulation It helps in producing soaps and cosmetics as it reacts with sodium hydroxide to give sodium laureate, which is a soap. Most commonly, we get sodium laureate by saponification of various oils, such as coconut oil. These precursors give mixtures of sodium laureate and other soaps. Further, lauric acid has medicinal use for treating different diseases. It helps in treating viral infections like influenza, swine flu, the common cold, and others. Lauric acid also benefits from treating bronchitis, yeast infections and other intestinal infections like ringworm. Similarly, lauric acid provides full antibacterial and anti-inflammatory actions to treat various diseases. With such effects, it becomes more beneficial in personal products for skin repairing and as an anti-acne agent. ############## Further, lauric acid fuses to the bacterial membrane of acne bacteria, keeping it from proliferating and reducing inflammation from acne. We often use it at higher levels to impart a pleasant natural fragrance and use it in cosmetic formulations as a solubiliser in emulsions.
