🎉 Embracing the Privilege of Giving Back🎈 This week, we had the extraordinary privilege of embodying our ethos of community support and upliftment. As the founder and managing director of my accounting firm, I’ve always believed in the power of giving back. This belief transformed into action when we sponsored training shirts for the under 8 Bulletjie Rugby Team at Laerskool Villieria, right here in the heart of the Moot, Pretoria. Seeing these young athletes, their faces beaming with pride (and safely blurred to protect their identities), was a reminder of why we do what we do. It’s about more than just business; it’s about making a difference where we can, in ways that matter. But this is not just our story. It’s a call to action for everyone. Giving back doesn’t always have to be financial. It can be as simple as a smile, a kind word, or a moment of your time. Every act of kindness has the power to make a difference. So, let’s continue to support those around us. Let’s continue to invest in our communities. And let’s continue to spread positivity, one smile at a time. And remember, a day without laughter is a day wasted. So, let’s keep the humour alive, because who knows, the next accountant might just be in that rugby team! 😄 #GiveBack #CommunitySupport #MakeADifference #LaughterIsTheBestMedicine #Aonani

US Immigration Attorney. Jamaican Attorney. Speaker. Author - On Your Feet Criminal Law Practice in the Parish Courts in Jamaica
Volunteering, for me at least, has presented many opportunities to learn, network and share. I found this blast from the past as I was going through my American Bar Association folder. This was a moot competition for law students from all over the country. It takes place annually in rounds and ABA members can volunteer to judge the competition. You even get to wear black robe if you want. The competition is also usually held at a court in the area so you and the law students get the full experience of being in court without some of the added stress! I try to do one such competition each year. The ABA is actually looking for volunteers for competitions this month. What volunteering opportunities do you gravitate towards? #OneThingToKnow #volunteer #networking #lawyerlearning #sharingiscaring

Recently, I had the privilege of serving on the judging panel for the AUSTRALIADAY COUNCIL State Citizen of the Year Awards; the experience left a profound impact on me. Reading through hundreds of applications, one thing became abundantly clear: the remarkable individuals nominated for these awards are everyday heroes among us. Despite juggling busy lives, demanding jobs, and family commitments, they consistently found time to give back to their communities. What struck me most was the humility and selflessness of these top candidates. Many applications were submitted by third parties, indicating that these individuals don't seek recognition for their tireless efforts. Some have been dedicated to giving back for decades, quietly making a difference in the lives of others without seeking applause or accolades. Yet, despite the challenges and sacrifices, there was a common thread of joy and fulfillment woven throughout their stories. These extraordinary people derive immense happiness from the act of giving back, proving that doing good benefits others, while enriching our own lives. I ask the fundamental question: Is helping those less fortunate and contributing to our communities the key to living happier, more fulfilled lives? I believe the answer is a resounding yes. Whether it's lending a helping hand to a neighbour in need, volunteering at a local charity, or advocating for positive change in our society, each act of kindness has the power to create a ripple effect of positivity, as much for those giving as those receiving. 🛡 Legend Of TIACS 🛡 Welcoming the latest Legend of TIACS, TradeBox Australia You know how contracts and terms written by lawyers often aren’t relevant to what tradies do and often are full of lawyer jargon? And, you know how tradies often try to write their own trade terms, but goodness knows if their terms are compliant or make sense or if they’re enforceable. Well, what TradeBox does is it gets the lawyers to listen to the trades, to get the best out of both. So this means, TradeBox provides trade-specific contracts and terms written in plain English, that are actually relevant to the work tradies do and are enforceable. And best of all, the contracts and terms help reduce the risk of disputes blowing up, saving tradies thousands of dollars. TradeBox is passionate about the mental health and wellbeing of the tradies we serve, which is why they're supporting TIACS. They're kicking off their support this spring from now until 30 November 2023, where for each new TradeBox subscription purchased during spring they're donating 15 minutes of TIACS counselling services. This means tradies getting new TradeBox subscriptions this spring will also be supporting their tradie mates with TIACS counselling at the same time. TradeBox was founded in 2017, is based in Redland City and currently serves QLD tradies with its Domestic, Commercial and Subcontract contract and terms subscriptions. TradeBox will serve NSW and VIC from 2024, with other states/territories to follow after. 🙌 Welcome Legends! 🔎 Want to learn more on how your organisation can join the TIACS Alliance or become a Legend of TIACS find out more info visit our website https://lnkd.in/gXtGNi_s 📞Reach out to TIACS today. Another fantastic project benefiting from funding raised through the Scottish Children's Lottery! This initiative aims to empower economically vulnerable youth in Scotland over an intensive 18-week period, cultivating confidence, essential skills, and self-belief for their journey toward success. The core of Growing2gether lies in a unique mentoring dynamic, where participants take on the role of mentors for nursery children requiring additional support. In today's challenging socio-economic landscape, initiatives like this are indispensable for nurturing the well-being and development of both high school youth and nursery children. For high school participants, many of whom could be at a heightened risk of being adversely affected by poverty, the program provides a crucial lifeline. It offers a transformative space where they not only acquire practical life skills but also develop an increased sense of self-belief and community connection through their mentoring roles. In an era marked by various societal pressures and economic disparities, such initiatives become vital in equipping these young minds with the resilience and skills necessary to navigate challenges, fostering a sense of purpose and direction for their futures. Simultaneously, for nursery children requiring additional support, the program serves as a beacon of positive influence. The mentorship provided by high school participants goes beyond academic assistance, offering emotional support and role modelling that can be pivotal in their early developmental years. The engagement with older mentors not only aids in academic progress but also contributes to building a nurturing environment, instilling a sense of security and self-assurance in these young children. As they interact with mentors who have faced and overcome challenges themselves, nursery children are exposed to positive role models, expanding their horizons and encouraging aspirations that extend beyond immediate circumstances. In essence, Growing2gether serves as a bridge, addressing the unique needs of both high school youth and nursery children, fostering a symbiotic relationship that propels holistic growth and development for all involved.
🌟Exciting News for 2024! Kicking off the year with a bang! We're ready to spread positive vibes and make a real impact on young people's lives in the Highlands, Moray, Aberdeen, and Dundee through our Growing2gether Nursery Mentoring and Growing2gether Community programmes.
