A lot of businesses have trouble rejecting people and it's really not that hard. People will tell you don't ghost and I agree with that up to a point if you know a candidate isn't right you should send them a rejection letter within 2 weeks. If I apply for a job and you don't get back to me within 30 days I'm just going to assume you filled the job and moved on, because I've already moved on at that point. I've applied for jobs and gotten a rejection letter 6 months later which is just a slap in the face because you're having a good day things are going okay and you get an email and Bam it's rejection. That's silly. The company that gets it right don't make you go through 15 interviews. I think two interviews is fine for 99% of jobs. Of course my opinions might be considered unpopular for example I think interviews should be paid. They can be paid at minimum wage but interviews are still working time. I also think commutes should be paid, but that's a subject for my next LinkedIn post. So companies, here's how to reject someone. --Within 2 weeks you will receive approximately 200 applications probably on day one of when you post the job on indeed or ZipRecruiter. --You will reject 190 of those candidates based on 30 seconds of reading the resume. --Once you reject those candidates you will go to indeed and just select not selected. --You will then interview the remaining 10 candidates or five or two or however many it is that you can't make a decision on and you will send those candidates a short email saying --"Thank you for taking the time to interview with us at this time we've decided to go with another applicant. " Sincerely the hiring manager or whoever. P.s. Here's a $50 Chili's gift card so you may now eat your feelings. Boom easy.
