Would you rather….? a) Close a deal for 300K today b) Close at least 50K monthly for the next year #saleslife
I would rather have a long lasting commercial relationship. 👍
a)
Consistency also matters
Depends on how you look at it. In my business if we based it off of # of clients (I like to call it relationships) the total sum is the same. 300 now or 300 over 6 months has the same results… but saying that I would still take B) as much as I love a massive deal, this enables us to give the best quality services to every single one of our clients at Superbly.ca !
Focus on tomorrow, not just today, with long-term deals. One-time deals will not help any organization create a dependency. If you have a longer relationship with the customer, then Deal B is ideal.
depends on the margins, scope of profit and resources needed to carry out the project. If 300k is beyond capacity with wild expectations then no.
Hunters will take the 300k today to hit quota. Farmers will take the 50k and slow role the entire year. Sales managers will ask why they can't have both
B. While I love big deals, I value consistency.
300 now

3moAnnoying overthinking salesperson here - depends: 1 ) Are there accelerators in my comp plan and if so are they monthly/quarterly? If so, A. If I have to wait until the end of the year, maybe B pending point #2 below: 2) What are my current goals? If it's to earn as much money as possible- A (assuming monthly/quarterly accelerators and immediately investing in the market). If I am actively seeking a promotion which prefers consistency, then B. 3) Is this today's market? Or a few years ago? If today when layoffs, market downturn, and less funding/runway than usual and I'm not guaranteed to be employeed the rest of the year, A. If we're time traveling back to 2021 or ahead to a more favorable market where reps have a long leash, maybe B. TLDR: Usually A because of uncertainty.
