❄️✨ Winter can be challenging for our mental wellbeing but there are small steps we can take to brighten our outlook and support others. At Aptus, we had the privilege of hosting ‘Ian 'Woody' Woodhouse’ from Enthuse International at Safety Stand Down a few years ago. He shared some simple yet powerful habits to boost positivity and resilience and we thought it might be helpful to share these again. Key takeaways: 🌟 Let go of negativity—don’t let small frustrations (like bad drivers!) ruin your day. 🌟 Focus on your intentions—giving generously without expecting in return is freeing. 🌟 Use empowering language—replace “I must” with “I can” to take charge of your mindset. 🌟 Create whinge-free zones—positivity is contagious! 🌟 Don’t save your best for strangers—show your loved ones and colleagues the best version of yourself. Embracing these tips can help to bring more joy and fulfilment into our daily lives. 👟 Today marks the start of #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek and the theme is movement and mental health. 🌳 One of the most important things you can do to help protect your mental health is regular movement. We all know that exercise, taking regular screen breaks and getting outdoors are so beneficial both mentally and physically. 🧘♂️ At our recent #Wellbeing and #Resilience event, the panel shared the importance of prioritising regular exercise, making it a non-negotiable in the diary. Moving more can increase your energy, reduce stress and anxiety, and boost your self-esteem. However it’s often the first thing to go when busy at work. 🌞 When it comes to colleagues and friends - check in, arrange that lunchtime stroll or run or a quick coffee before work. Or why not consider a walking meeting? 💙 As well as mental health and wellbeing support offered by individual member firms, external support is available for accountancy and law firm colleagues through caba and LawCare - the mental health charity for the legal sector. #MentalHealth #support #MomentsForMovement #ProfessionalServices

1 in 3 of charity workers feel uncomfortable discussing stress, burnout or mental health concerns with their line manager. Does this surprise you? Discussing our mental health with anyone can feel vulnerable. Discussing it with someone in a leadership position may feel impossible, especially if our job itself is contributing to how we feel. So where do we go from here? Well at The Joyful Activists® we’re on a mission to create a community where we can talk about how we feel with empathy and understanding. We’ve been the 1 in 3 too. Come and join us for somatic wellbeing workshops, book clubs, in person events, journaling prompts, playlists and so much more. 💌 Sign up to our newsletter to get involved: https://lnkd.in/dFBfA7w8 * Stat from Third Sector (2021) #thejoyfulactivists #humanitarianmentalhealth #charitywellbeing

For Mental Health Awareness Week, our Team has been reflecting on how employers can support this year’s theme of ‘moving more for your mental health’. We devised some ideas such as Walking Meetings, Step Competitions, Subsidised Fitness Programmes, and Outdoor Volunteering. However, it felt somehow arbitrary to post this as a carousel. So, instead, here’s a post for anyone who is: 🧡 currently struggling with their mental health. 🧡 recovering from the effects of poor mental health. 🧡 supporting a family member or friend who is struggling with their mental health. Talk to your manager, a trusted colleague, family member, or friend. Help is out there. #mentalhealthawarenessweek #mentalhealth

Today is #MentalHealthAwarenessDay2024, and I want to take a moment to talk about something that affects all of us in different ways. Mental health is just as important as physical health, yet it often doesn’t get the attention or care it deserves. As someone who works closely with various organisations and charities, I've seen firsthand the impact that stress, anxiety, and burnout can have on individuals and teams. Whether it’s balancing work, family, or personal challenges, we all need to make time for our mental well-being. So today, I encourage you to take a moment for yourself, reach out to someone who might need support, and remember that it’s okay to not be okay. Let’s break the stigma, start the conversation, and take care of ourselves and each other. 💚 #BreakTheStigma #SelfCare #MentalHealthMatters

It’s #mentalhealthawarenessweek and this year’s theme is on “Movement: Moving more for our mental health”. We all know doing some form of exercise is good for our mental health so why not try going for a walk with a colleague at lunchtime, put on your favourite music and dance around your living room to relieve the stress of the working day, or try doing some gentle chair exercises when you’re watching television – it all counts! At KEW we have our team’s back and make it our business to take a moment to check in with our colleagues, ask how they are, and offer support if needed. Acknowledging our colleagues #wellbeing in the workplace helps break down the stigma and barriers often associated with mental health. To show our commitment we have a few things planned this week, including #mentalhealth training to highlight our current benefits as an employer, an organised walking group around Birmingham, a day to 'Wear it Green' to raise funds for the Mental Health Foundation and a session to encourage our colleagues to either share their own personal mental health stories or any tips that may help another colleague going through a tough time. What will you be doing this week to get your teams on the move? #employeewellness #mentalhealth #breakthestigma #movemore
