The World Economic Forum in Davos is a wrap. And Belgium seized once more this opportunity to put the European biopharma sector in the spotlight. Julia Spencer, AVP, global public policy, and lead for multilateral engagement and strategic alliances, participated in the distinguished panel “Challenges and Opportunities for Europe’s Biopharma Sector: What Role for Belgium?” alongside Prime Minister Alexander De Croo of Belgium and other industry leaders, to discuss how to incentivize and foster partnerships across the pharmaceutical value chain, from R&D to patient access. Asia Pacific Medical Technology Association (APACMed) has reached a wonderful milestone - 10 years of dedicated efforts in advancing healthcare access and innovation across the Asia Pacific region. Looking ahead, I have confidence in medical technologies being pivotal in enhancing healthcare access. However, one immediate challenge facing the industry is establishing new funding models to foster the medtech industry's role in elevating healthcare systems to the next level. By promoting an environment open to innovation, we can enable the integration of cutting-edge technologies into healthcare systems, thus positively shaping the industry and ultimately improving healthcare delivery in the APAC region. I keep noticing a trend in all #pharma events: They are all well-organized and professional, but they are seriously boring! 🙄 Once, at an event, I overheard someone complaining about having to fake interest, saying it was actually a waste of time. However, when the conference feedback forms were passed, none of that feedback was even mentioned. Do you know what happened the following year? Most of the attendees skipped the event. My take on business pharma events is that they lack innovation. The industry is quite conservative, so the events are traditional and lack any spark ✨ . You have the same old, same old all the time 😫 . This year, however, the NextPharma event caught me by surprise. Yes, there were a few hiccups, but they really focused on showcasing innovative ideas. They had a game room, offered 360 photos, and genuinely put in effort to engage the participants. What I am leading to is this:  Events don't have to be boring. More engagement creates more results and more sponsors 🤝 . Engagement = More sponsors 💸 #pharmaconferences #pharma

This morning the IQVIA Institute published a report that looks at the need for clinical trial global diversification by assessing trends in enrollment timelines, trial characteristics, and country utilization over the past five years. Based on this need, the IQVIA Institute developed a Clinical Trial Readiness Analysis that allows for ranking of countries by trial type and surfaces near- and long-term opportunities for investment and improvement in country utilization.
