🌊 We are steering the helm in comprehensive waste management #MARPOL! 🌊 Once again, TMA has come aboard the Seatrade Cruise europe #STCMed, organized by Seatrade Cruise, one of the most important events for the cruise industry, which this year is being held in Málaga, Puerto de Málaga, on September 11th and 12th. 🛳 At an event of this nature, we have the opportunity to connect with industry leaders and share our vision of proper comprehensive waste management. His topic, "How We as a Port Transformed to Become One of the Most Important Parts of Our Society," shared the remarkable journey of the Port of Flam towards sustainability and societal significance. Ka pai to KiwiRail who helped cut nearly 230,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions last year by transporting goods by rail instead of road, saving 84.7 million litres of fuel. With investments in new low-emission locomotives and improved services, rail is playing a crucial role in reducing New Zealand’s transport emissions. Now passengers on the Vaasa-Umeå route can also compensate for their journey by paying a nominal voluntary fee. The goal for Wasaline is to reduce the climate footprint by at least 5% each year, and to operate climate-neutrally in Kvarken by 2030. There has been great interest from the cargo customers and interest has increased in operating climate neutrally. Already today, Wasaline has freight customers who buy climate compensation and therefore transport their goods climate neutrally. Wasaline can today offer its customers emission-neutral intermodal transports to the continent via Sweden by train from the ports of Gothenburg and Trelleborg. The sea route between Vaasa and Umeå aims to be a Green Shipping Corridor by 2030 at the latest. https://lnkd.in/d8s3enru

The Green Award Ship Waste module provides a comprehensive framework for assessing and certifying ships based on their waste management performance. By offering incentives such as discounted port fees and priority access to waste reception facilities, it encourages ships to go above and beyond in their waste management practises.
