To stabilize a dynamic riverbank and prevent erosion in a sustainable manner (e.g. without using plastics or concrete), the Provincie Noord-Holland designed a pilot using among other BESE-elements. The pilot aims to assess the optimal soil retention approach comparing three different types of materials, of which one are the BESE-elements. The trial area was realized through the collaboration of Beens Groep and Hakkers. #riverrestoration #vegetationmanagement #circular #naturebasedsolutions #biodegradable https://lnkd.in/ejQq93wV

Indoor cultivation requires HVACD systems that can handle both internal and external loads. The internal loads, generated by the cultivation process, include heat from the lights and moisture from the plants' transpiration. Meanwhile, external loads on the building itself include heat loss or gain on the overall structure. If you're looking for more information on selecting the right HVACD system for indoor cultivation, check out this helpful application note. It's packed with useful tips and considerations to help you get the job done right. Desert Aire LLC. #indoorfarming #indoorgardening #vpd #HVACD

HYAMAT unlocks the local value of water hyacinth for soil erosion control, offering an innovative biodegradable erosion control blanket as a circular alternative. The HYAMAT project, financed by Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO) and executed by NETICS BV - Unlocking the Value of Sediment - in close collaboration with Yvonne Dube (MSc.), Royal HaskoningDHV and Erosion Worx, is now in a pilot-testing phase. Together with Erosion Worx, we tested 2 kinds of HYAMAT erosion blankets for one month in the rainy season. For comparison, they were tested alongside other traditional biobased erosion control blankets in the form of jute erosion blankets and straw erosion blankets. The results are promising: after 1 month of heavy rain, the ground remains stable! As the next step, a HYAMAT erosion blanket that is 3 times larger than the previous one is produced and currently being tested. These photos provide a glimpse of our progress. Stay tuned for further developments in this innovative project! For more information, please read the article about the HYAMAT-project on our website in Dutch: https://lnkd.in/dRGwK2ud #circular #sustainable #waterhyacint #innovate #RVO #erosion

Innovating Post-Construction Land Use: Erosion and Sediment Control The dynamic landscape of post-construction land use is charged with innovation and cutting-edge technology. From Turf to Biodiversity: Transforming once-typical turf areas into thriving, ecologically diverse habitats is paramount for a successful development into the future. Environment and Communities: Our comment should lie in creating spaces that benefit both the environment and the surrounding communities. Sustainable Practices: Best practices ensure that every project, when executed correctly, contributes to a greener, healthier future for all our communities. #ErosionControl #SustainableDevelopment #EnvironmentalManagement #BMPs #LandRestoration Matthew Welch has a great article to read below and inform.
Improving post-construction land use has been a hot topic in the erosion and sediment control industry. Taking land previously destined for turf-type grass stabilization and turning it into a diverse and ecologically beneficial habitat is becoming a much more common approach. Misconceptions regarding the necessary Best Management Practices (BMPs) to successfully achieve the desired results have persisted for years. Work is being done not only to disprove some common misconceptions but to redefine best practices. Below is an article in IECA - International Erosion Control Association Environmental Connection that Clay Frazer of Native Range Ecological, LLC and I put together on this topic. #NativeVegetation #Pollinators #Sustainability #Reclamation #ErosionControl #ShowYourFlex #Flexterra #ProGanics #BioticSoilMedia Profile Products

Controlling vegetation along rail corridors is an essential element of rail safety and infrastructure management. Kim Evans from GTE Track Spray recently shared his experience trialing Method® 240SL herbicide from #Envu within a densely overgrown area in the Australian regional rail network. The commercial trial aimed to evaluate Method 240SL herbicide's efficacy in managing dense vegetation along the #railcorridor, which is crucial for safety and #infrastructuremaintenance. Despite several years of limited maintenance, and over growth of vegetation, Method 240SL herbicide proved highly effective, achieving a high level of control of both broadleaf and woody weeds within the 9 week trial period. Mr Evans highlighted Method 240SL herbicide's low application rate, excellent mixing properties and odorless nature, making it a standout choice for industrial #weedcontrol. Moreover, with its versatility in application methods, including boom spraying and cut stump situations, Method 240SL herbicide offers unparalleled convenience and effectiveness. While still new to the Australian market, this broad-spectrum herbicide shows immense promise, with plans to expand its usage across various remote corridors. Thank you, Kim, for sharing your experience with Method 240SL herbicide. As invasive vegetation can threaten the safety of crucial infrastructure, we look forward to continuing to arm our partners around the world with tools to identify harmful species and respond to threats with greater precision. To keep societies moving safely forward, we must be a force with nature.
