I’ve spoken to many candidates this summer who have graduated college with a degree in Computer Science and cannot find full-time employment. Many of them are taking on side projects, honing their skills with additional certifications, taking unpaid internships for the hands-on experience and still are unable to get their start in IT. Some of these folks even graduated in 2023 and have been doing these odd-jobs for over a year while trying to find the right company to take a chance on them. These candidates are enthusiastic, motivated and ready to work hard to earn their place in the IT sector. In a market where companies are trying to save costs, why not hire a recent grad and invest a little mentorship and hands-on training to help shape these candidates into the perfect fit for your company?

It was field day for our summer interns! Here they had the opportunity to apply what they learned and performed an observation activity: variance study and DILO. The team had a blast and there is plenty of impactful learning to come! #Intern #Internship #OperationsManagement #Consultants

What do you do if you're unsure which factors to consider when choosing a software engineering internship? Here is my take on it. When choosing a software engineering internship, consider factors like the company's reputation, the technologies you'll work with, mentorship opportunities, potential for growth, company culture, location, and whether the internship aligns with your career goals. Additionally, reach out to current or former interns for insights.

International Students: your 2024 Summer internship is here, hopefully. Are you 200% clear on what is expected of you? If you are a software engineering intern, your raw coding output is for sure the the most important metric. Writing the code that eventually become good code is what is most important. At the end of your internship, someone will ask your manager, "can this kid write good code?" And the answer will be "yes" or "no". It will be very binary at that point, trust me. Details will not matter. The decision of whether or not to offer you a full-time job offer after your internship will be made in 4 sec. My point is: do you know what is really critical about your Summer internship? Are you sure you do know? No matter what your responsibilities are as an intern, focus on what matters, and aggressively eliminate distractions.
