2023: A Record Year for Displacement of the World's Children and the Crisis is Worsening Gaza, Sudan, Syria, and Somalia Top the List With the intensification of conflicts, disputes, persecution, violence, and human rights violations, the end of 2023 recorded a historic high in the number of forcibly displaced people, both internally and externally, reaching 117.3 million individuals. While children (under 17 years old) constitute 30% of the world's population, they comprise 40% of all forcibly displaced persons globally. #Sudan, #Gaza, #Somalia, and #Syria topped the list of countries that experienced forced displacement over the past year, and they continue to live in this state to this day.
