I've chatted with SO many business owning friends about this over the last few weeks - so here's a blog... ✨ Decision fatigue✨ Decisions take energy. Are we aware of our energy levels, and the effect making decisions has on this? Do we know our patterns? Can we meet ourselves with curiousity and draw boundaries on further decisions for a period of time when needed? Can we tweak our systems to mean our energy goes to the most impactful decisions? Are we sufficiently recharging? Running a business especially, we are constantly met with requests to make decisions... (You're telling me 😂 !) It's easy to fall into listening to those stories of being fraudulent if we don't feel able to make a decision. Then sometimes we make depleted decisions and it all feels like further evidence we are making it up as we go along... This is an invitation to be a little more curious, and remember that you are a valuable HUMAN. Let's be a little more strategic and compassionate in our decision making. We are a small business that runs on an Entrepreneurial Operating system (EOS). To be honest, I drank the Kool-Aid. Half-assing EOS kind of works, but as soon as you full-ass it, that's when the magic happens. We've been half-assing for years and are just making the switch. Celebrate your wins… It’s something I think many of us forget to do, especially entrepreneurs who are always working to push their business forward. So it was lovely to get a little reminder yesterday that I had nearly let commemorating a big one drift by… A couple of weeks ago, our team achieved a remarkable milestone – we were honoured with not one, but TWO national industry awards 🏅 🏅 recognising our leadership and team dynamics and yesterday one of the official photos from the day turned up in my inbox! (Huge thanks to Jonathan Duckworth for sharing 🙏 ) That morning was a bit of whirlwind! I had to dash off for my first solo speaking slot immediately after the awards so we didn’t get time for decent photos or to stop and enjoy the moment with our team which meant receiving this photo in my inbox yesterday was a really lovely surprise! If I'm completely honest, it took me a week to fully recover from the excitement and intensity of the event - hence not posting about it sooner. Still recuperating from surgery just two weeks prior, I may have pushed myself a little too hard (I never learn!), but I maintain that it was absolutely worth it! This achievement stands as the culmination of 12 years of relentless dedication and continuous improvement. The entire experience at #SPVS2024 over the two days was nothing short of brilliant. In addition to receiving these prestigious awards, both Howard Goatley and I had the privilege of delivering separate speaking sessions. It was an amazing opportunity to impart some of the wisdom gained through trial and error over the past few years, and the feedback we received affirmed its value. So, I guess there’s more than one win in there but here’s my reminder to celebrate ALL the wins, however big or small. They are all steps on the journey and it’s all too easy to forget what we’ve already achieved when we’re always moving forward. #veterinary #business #entrepreneurship
