🔥 Hot Take: SDRs, don't apologize for bad meetings booked for your AEs. Your time is equally valuable, not less. You're building pipeline, and they're closing - it's an appropriate balance of time. Even if their time comes with a 30%+ higher base salary, you're a package deal. "Flop" meetings means you're giving AEs valuable Account Intelligence. This saves them time from putting in double work on their prospecting (🗣 AEs prospecting!? They book flops, too!). Besides, SDR-generated DQ's are arguably more valuable than an MQL meeting that doesn't turn out anyway. I'm all for collaboration - SDRs still have an expectation for their quality of work - but these "flop" meetings can still be valuable when... ☝🏼AEs (probably more enterprise than SMB) can leverage contacts to deeply map Departments and Personas within an Account (building org charts in Miro) or simply updating Contact notes in a CRM. ✌🏼VPs can see they need to structure a better sales org for SDRs instead of focusing only on their AEs (or invest in better Sales Enablement resources/staff) that continues to equip, train, and enable SDRs for AE promotion readiness. Maybe SDRs should be hosting more Qualification Calls, or even Demos, (or just invited to every customer meeting until Closed Win/Lose) so they're actually ready for AE-promotion. How are "coaches" NOT investing more in their emerging/future talent? 👌🏽Product will learn more about what End Users and Leaders alike say about their "baby" (Voice of the Customer stuff) and what that could mean for their Product Roadmap plans and what the Market is saying when they don't have UX Researchers or outsourced research for their P/SDLC.
