Gloucester specialist construction company collaborates for growth 🏗️🤝 Gloucester-based coldstore construction company ISD Solutions has formalised a collaboration with Northampton food industry specialist DDK Projects Limited, a move it sees as being key to fast growth in the food sector. The relationship between coldstore construction experts ISD Solutions and food industry specialists DDK Projects has already been instrumental in delivering projects in excess of £30 million since April 2021. Thanks to this business collaboration, DDK expects to multiply turnover through the collective delivery of joint projects by this time in 2027. DDK Projects is led by Tim Dixon, Alan Donaldson and David Lynch, who collectively have more than 80 years’ experience working in the food manufacturing industry. Logistics! What truly takes the time up is managing the supply chain with thatching. As a craft, using bespoke materials, it is not a case of popping down to your local builders merchants and grabbing what you need. When suppliers are far away, transport is expensive, so it often means purchasing multiple jobs worth of material in one load. Taking small amounts often isn’t practical works out exceptionally expensive. With straw, we have harvest to contend with. Suppliers will want to focus on harvest, often wanting barns empty ready for the new harvest. It means accepting as well that the straw you want for thatching in late summer will need to be with you by early summer, as none will have been either threshed or combed ready for the most part. Then you have years where the harvest is poor. Logistics and material supply are matters which always play keenly on my mind to ensure we are organised and projects flow seamlessly.
