“The reason someone buys into a brand may be different than why someone stays with a brand. So, you have to connect emotionally at the front and keep the science delivering on performance for the remainder of the consumer experience.” This really captures how we thought about Future Society. We had a great conversation alongside Sophie Bai of Pavise and B.A.I. Biosciences, Inc. and Joanna Ellner of REOME . Thank you Beauty Independent for having us! Biotechnology has been around for decades. The beauty industry has taken hold of its capabilities to bring new ingredients and materials to life. For me, skincare has always been rooted in science and this article reinforces that. "Beauty might be in the eye of the beholder, but when it comes to our beauty products, there is a common denominator that all credible products, regardless of their sticker price, must attain: ingredient safety and traceability, quality, consistency, performance, and sustainability. Biotechnology has them all covered, and then some. Whatever the question, biotechnology is the answer." #biotechnology #microalgae #skincare #beautyindustry #collaboration #ingredientsmatter #sustainability

Is it possible to avoid using water in skincare formulations? 💧 Conventional cosmetics typically contain anywhere from 60% to 95% water, but not VERDILAB formulas. At VERDILAB, we utilize an organic algae serum instead of water bringing formulation protocol to the next level with this innovative technique. But why do we do it? 1️⃣ The organic algae serum we use as a substitute for water offers numerous benefits. It's rich in carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, amino acids, and minerals, serving not only as a solvent but also as a booster of formulas' efficacy. ✨ 2️⃣ We aim to reduce the usage of water in the production of our products, contributing to sustainability efforts. 🌿 The organic algae serum used in VERDILAB formulas is sourced from UNESCO protected areas of Brittany, ensuring the highest quality and sustainability standards. At VERDILAB, we're committed to pushing the boundaries of skincare innovation. Ready to experience the difference? Biotech is not 'new-news' but is the lens in which we now value both sustainable and scientific validation. One of the biggest advantages of biotechnology for skin-care ingredient creation is the ability to create new, novel molecules that aid the skin. It can also boost ingredient volume and purity while decreasing the environmental impact of its sourcing. But messaging the value of synthetic ingredients to consumers accustomed to a natural-is-better approach to skin care is an ongoing challenge for beauty brands using biotech ingredients, and there is a growing number. According to market research company Grand View Research, the global biotech ingredients market size was $1.61 billion in 2019, and it’s expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 9.3% to reach $3.01 billion in 2027. So glad that so many diverse markets appreciate this positive trend, the advancement of technologies in a truly conscious and responsible fashion.

Echoing our founder Susie Willis. There can be no “biotechwashing” in beauty. Biotechnology is underpinned by science, rigorous efficacy-testing, and manufacturing standards that have pharma-like precision and data credibility. Now is the time for brands to step up and take responsibility for their messaging. To be a truly responsible band you should only work with sustainable technologies. No BS just Biotechnology! #biotechnology #biotechmessaging #biology

I agree with the statement that " The best part? We are just at the start of what beauty and biotechnology can do together." Thanks Joshua Britton for a great opinion piece on BeautyMatter We will talk about Biotech at MakeUp in Los Angeles, hope you will join us.

Another great conversation with tons of learning at today's CEW Webinar! Thanks to a great panel discussion with Jasmina Aganovic from Arcaea, Philip Ludwig from BASF and Brent Ridge, founder of Beekman 1802 - we got to hear all about the current science behind personal care products, formulation and how marketing can influence the direction and push the technology even further, and how we can leverage newer technologies to not only better address skin concerns, but to do so in a more sustainable way. Consumers are more knowledgeable than ever, and with the increase of information on the microbiome (and the more comfortable consumers are with understanding it), biotechnology will be able to impact the industry more and more in the coming years! Science + Sustainability + Consumer Appeal = a winning combination! #beautyindustry #skincare #cosmetics #marketing #biotech #beauty #microbiome #sustainability
