Despite the challenges posed by tariffs and geopolitical tensions, I still think Asia is set to remain the dominant force in the fashion and luxury supply chain. Its unmatched manufacturing expertise, scalability, and investment in advanced technologies give it a clear edge over nearshoring alternatives. While diversification may be on the agenda, brands will likely continue to rely heavily on Asia to balance cost, quality, and innovation in 2025 and beyond. Anyone see things differently?

Building the right supply chain networks is a key concern, especially with the looming threat of tariffs and potential retaliatory measures beyond the US. Companies might consider establishing multiple supply chain networks to produce products within a region, sourcing supplies from within that region. Asia has excelled in this area. Many countries in this region are not huge and hence understand the interconnection between trade and economies. By supporting each other, they are building robust supply chain networks that cater to a rapidly growing internal market. Additionally, these networks provide reliable supplies with consistent trade policies to other regions, making Asia an attractive location for setting up operations.

These are 5 key takeaways from The State of Fashion 2025 report by McKinsey & Company and The Business of Fashion. 1️⃣ Global trade is shifting. Rising costs and new trade policies mean brands are moving production closer to home or exploring diverse sourcing hubs in Asia. 2️⃣ India’s middle class is booming, making it a hotspot for growth, while Japan’s luxury market is thriving thanks to a tourism boom and a weaker yen 3️⃣ The growing demographic of ''Silver Spenders''has major purchasing power, and brands catering to them are unlocking new opportunities 4️⃣ Resale, off-price, and even dupes are sticking around as shoppers prioritize cost-conscious choices. Brands need to prove their value to win loyalty 5️⃣ Sustainability remains key. Fashion must act now to decarbonize supply chains and embrace eco-friendly innovation. The climate crisis demands action, even if shoppers hesitate to pay more for it. What are your thoughts on the report? #stateoffashion2025 #businessofffashion #mckinsey

It's always enlightening to dive into the 9th edition of "The State of Fashion 2025" by McKinsey & Company and The Business of Fashion, which highlights the emerging mega #trends for 2025 under the theme "Challenges at Every Turn." Here’s my key takeaway from the 10 defining themes that will shape the fashion industry agenda in 2025: 💠 Trade Reconfigured: Global trade is shifting as major economies diversify and source from countries where they have more political alignment. As a result, fashion brands are likely to double down on diversifying their sourcing footprint in Asia and lay the foundations for #nearshoring. ®️ 💠 Asia’s New Growth Engine: #India will be a focus, particularly for high-street players, while Japan’s luxury boom is expected to continue into 2025🌏 💠 Discovery Reinvented: a new era of brand and product discovery is on the horizon, underpinned by #AI-powered curation across content and search. 🧠 💠 👵 👴 Silver Spenders The “Silver Generation” aged over 50 represents a growing population with a high share of global spend. 💠 Value Shift : Macroeconomic pressures and rising prices have driven fashion shoppers to adopt cost-conscious behaviors. 🤔 💠 The Human Side of Sales : Differentiating the in-store #experience is key to reigniting demand for in-person shopping. ✅ Link to the report in comment
