Working Part-time with ACCA - a dilemma or what? If it were a normal undergrad or postgrad degree, no student would have second thoughts about working part-time (because economy, duh). But we’re talking about ACCA. I have seen many mid-grade students who work part-time from FD to Professional level without failing attempts. Some even begin articleship alongside Skills (just thinking about it scares me) 😣 But should an average-grade student consider part-time jobs alongside ACCA? I’d recommend not to ❌ Even though ACCA is easier than CA, it’s still tough. More than that, when you have big bucks (sterling pounds) on stake; the risk is not worth it. In fact, the risk-to-reward ratio is a key reason why many ACCA students don’t take up articleship opportunities alongside Skills. Reward being the measly 20K pkr salary. ▶ WHAT YOU CAN DO: You can try your hand at freelancing though, because it brings more flexibility, comparatively better pay, and time to study. Plus, you’re your own boss when freelancing since you pick your projects yourself, keeping feasibility & difficulty in mind. ▶GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY: However, if you get a chance (paid, of course) to tutor FD students as a Skill-level student, don’t miss it. It’s a golden opportunity for any Skill-level ACCA student, helping you revise and strengthen your concepts. Yet, the fact remains and will prevail to be, that the earlier you enter corporate the better. What are your thoughts on it? #acca #accaeducation #accamotivation #accapakistan #accauk #ca #icap

ACCA students hate me when I say this out loud, don't expect crazy salaries like Rs 10, 15, 20 lacs for your first job! You may have to start with salaries as low as 3 or 4 lacs, depending on what number of papers you're done with and if any prior experience. Now why do we get paid less? The answer is simple, we need to get experience before we start to demand. ACCA is a skill based profession (not knowledge) therefore you get better only with experience. And because you get better, you can demand more. Your ACCA qualification tells the employer that you have in depth knowledge, and you have gone through the grind therefore commitment can be expected. They know you can put in the efforts and won't quit. Please don't compare yourself with other qualifications like a CA getting 8 or 10 lacs as a start, cos they already have done a 3 years articleship which is as good as full time work experience. Therefore if you have 3 years experience, yes absolutely feel free to demand 10 lacs and more, if not, then please get some experience first. The initial few years are still part of investments, therefore the returns are not necessarily great (there are a few exceptions). However with a few years in the Industry, you'll be able to make a lot more than an average accounting and finance professional. Remember the power of compounding works here too! Realistic expectations would be an ACCA with zero experience to start with 6 to 6.5 lacs and then with experience it keeps going up gradually. With 5 to 7 years of work experience, you can expect it to go upto 20 odd lacs. How do I know all this, well with personal experience as well as at FPA Edutech we place students therefore know what the industry is offering. Hope this helps with your job search and expectations setting. I did make a very short video about the same, link in comments. If you find this useful, please hit a repost and do follow me Zaheer A Sayed ACCA for such insights. All the best! p.s. These ranges are generally speaking therefore if you are getting more or less than what I mentioned then happy to hear it in comments! Also note, Q1 generally hiring slows down as no one wants to leave without bonus therefore sit tight and keep hunting! #acca #accaindia #accajobs #accasalary #accastudents

UHY Hassan Naeem and Co (Chartered Accountant Firm) CA/ACCA Finalist-Institue of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan
Respected partner does not even know that ICAP has restricted students from doing part time jobs (freelancing) so they can be more focused towards the work of Audit Firms. I am unable to understand the mindset of these type of firms here. Let me know how many “Valuable training sessions” you have provided to your trainees? Few firms are working on the training and development of the trainee while most of them just assign them training in between the routine client work and does not even bother to give them time to complete the training. Paying trainees with fewer bucks and expecting them to work on the clients like they own the clients with minimal supervisons and guidances is totally unjust. These stipend does not even cover tuition fees and daily traveling and food expenses. How come it won’t affect the quality of the work? It would be compromise when one is not motivated enough to do so. Moreover, they asked you to work late nights while they will leave the office by 6, expecting Rs 19,000 trainee to complete the millions of audit fees worth clients with your minimal inuput and intense work pressure. Totally unacceptable ! #ca #cafirm #Aca #Acca #CFA #FCA #cainter #firms #Articleship #CharteredAccoutants #partners #Audit #Tax #advisory #induction #caf #cafqualified #CAtrainee #CAfirm #trainee #CA #ACCA #accounting #auditclients #caf #karachi #joinnow #lahore #Enrichinglivesbyinspiringchange #icap #summerprogram #icap #stipend #salary #wage #basicsalary #dailywage
