Efficacy is determined by two ways: 1. By the very work done or actions performed (Ex opere operato, in Latin); 2. By the disposition and intention of the doer or performer (Ex opere operantis, in Latin). In the domain of spirituality, it may particularly be noted that the efficacy of actions — such as anointing, blessing, consecration and prayer — is believed to be determined by “opere operantis” (2, above) rather than by “opere operato”. If so, who should do the “pranpratishtha”? A venerable holy person or a veteran politico of few scruples?

Persevere 12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.(1Peter 4:12-14). 14 Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you. 15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. 16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.(2Corinthians 4:14-18). https://lnkd.in/d9DBBF8J

You can enjoy this brief history of choral singing. The article explores its origins in the Jewish psalmody and its evolutions in Gregorian chant. These ancient traditions survive in the choir of the Sistine Chapel today. The article is also available in German. #vatican #rome #choir #singing #choirmusic

GOD IS MY GUIDE, MY INSTRUCTOR, MY TRUTH, MY LAWYER, MY NEGOTIATOR, WHERE SUCCESS WILL ALWAYS BE PRESENT IN MY LIFE.
Word of Today God’s design and purpose for your life Thursday, February 22, 2024 Because we are God's creation, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. - Ephesians 2:10 God created you the way you are for a very special reason: He wants to use his life for his glory. He has given you unique talents and gifts that you can use to bless those around you. You may think that you are just any person, like everyone else, but that is not true. God's design in you is unique. There is no one like you on earth. Think about specific things that are normal to you but that other people find strange or fascinating. For example, you may like to do crafts, feel refreshed by picking up some wooden boards, working on them until you have a chair or a shelf. Or maybe you love meeting new people, like walking around the town square just to see if you can talk to someone, or if you see someone you know. There are many things we do “just because”, but in reality, they are an essential part of us and God’s project in our lives. Ask in prayer today that God will show you how He wants to use you, just as you are, to bless others and extend His Kingdom. He has a precious purpose for your life, and He will accompany and guide you to achieve it. The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me! Your love, Lord, remains forever; do not abandon the works of your hands! - Psalm 138:8 https://lnkd.in/d7QF4Sm6

The origins of Christmas carols Christmas carols are festive songs that celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and the joy of the season. But where did they come from and how did they evolve over time? The word ‘carol’ originally meant ‘a dance in a ring’ and was associated with pagan rituals and festivals. The first Christian carols were composed by Roman and Greek bishops in the 2nd and 8th centuries, but they were not widely sung in churches until the Middle Ages, when Franciscan friars popularized them as a way of spreading the gospel to the masses1. Many of the carols we know today date back to the 15th century, when they were collected and preserved by folklorists and composers. Some of them have surprising origins and meanings, such as ‘O Come All Ye Faithful’, which may have been a coded message of support for Bonnie Prince Charlie, the exiled Catholic claimant to the British throne2. Others, such as ‘Away in a Manger’, were falsely attributed to famous figures like Martin Luther, the German reformer, to boost their popularity3. Carols were banned by the Puritans in the 17th century, but they were revived in the 18th and 19th centuries by the likes of Charles Wesley, the co-founder of Methodism, who wrote ‘Hark! The Herald Angels Sing’, and William Sandys, who published a collection of old and new carols in 1834. The first carol service was held in Truro, England, in 1880, by Edward White Benson, the Bishop of Truro and later the Archbishop of Canterbury5. Today, carols are an integral part of Christmas celebrations around the world, and new ones are constantly being written and performed. They reflect the diversity and creativity of the human spirit, and the universal message of peace and goodwill. 🎄

An Excerpt from a Religious Studies Lecture to University Students: What Do You Want to Do with Your Life? by Timothy King Lent Rabbi Jesus of Nazareth says, “‘Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened’” (Matthew 7:7-8, NIV). In the Greek text, the three verbs Jesus uses - “Ask,” “seek” and “knock” - involve continuous action. In other words, they involve a constant struggle. The meaning of the verbs is “keep on asking, keep on seeking and keep on knocking.” Jesus, then, is teaching that there will be obstacles in the way of achieving any good or worthwhile goal. That is why not a few people are tempted to give up on their dreams, to quit. What do you want to do with your life? You will develop fortitude - inner, spiritual strength - by going through the difficulties or obstacles that “stand in the way” of achieving your goal. Look to the Almighty as your source of spiritual strength, asking for a courageous spirit to endure constant rejection, failure, disappointment and discouragement. “Keep on keeping on,” persevering in your pursuit of the good. If, as yet, you do not know what you want to do with your life, the same above-mentioned principle applies to you. Keep on searching or looking for what you want. After all, there usually is no finding without searching. You are, in essence, searching for a meaning to your life. And that is not always easy to find. Below is one of my favorite songs by U2. It is, in fact, a “spiritual song.” Its “point” is to keep on searching, asking God to help you find what you are “looking for.” In the words of Jesus, “‘For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.’”
