Architects Registration Board’s Post

ARB’s research into culture and misconduct found that misconduct is felt to be rooted in a chain of structural and cultural factors, including hierarchies that create power imbalances. Architects who prioritise collaborative workplaces told us about the ways in which they try to address issues around hierarchy. These included:  -Prioritising training and education  -Encouraging honesty across roles Learn more about the research and how architects think culture can be improved:➡️ https://lnkd.in/eHjyEsKJ

This is an interesting insight. Its worth noting Architects Registration Board, that hierarchy is not itself culturally problematic. It's how preferences can clash and how authority is handled. Power imbalance doesn't come from hierarchy, it comes from poor leadership behaviours. To understand this better, we need to have a conversation about #CulturalIntelligence and the #BehaviouralPreferences, researched cultural value differences which include 'Power Distance'.
