The construction industry is a pivotal force in the quest to mitigate the housing shortage, a challenge that has become increasingly complex in Canada. As a primary provider of new housing solutions, the industry’s role is crucial in erecting structures and shaping the future of urban and suburban landscapes. However, this task is not without formidable obstacles.

The objective of the assignment was to develop design interventions for heritage building through adaptive reuse, integrating contemporary functions while preserving their architectural, historic, and cultural values.

It can be argued that currently we as architects design cities in reminisce over future thought and exploration, this could mean that our designs speak of past events and livelyhood, over future possibilities. My question is not heavily married to why we are designing in this manner but whether we considering having issues which occurred in the past, occur in the future? Secondly, are we as architects and urban designers saying our past cities were better or are we unable to think creatively beyond what was?

"Experience hubs" may become the cornerstone of a successful hybrid work model. We’ll see. Still, there is ample evidence that many employees come to the office to focus on their personal work. So, all sites should also provide some number of semi-private touchdown pods with better-than-home lighting and technology. Plug-in lights with wireless controls will help organizations adapt to a changeable workplace. #thelightingquotient
