“We’ve signed up to use 1 Agency for the next X months / years” said the client… Pro’s - Build a solid relationship - no competition so one funnel of candidates Con’s - “Typically” they’re generalist and will struggle with niche requirements - They get lazy / complacent - Competition drives accountability to deliver (especially for us sales folk) - what happens if they’re not delivering - then where do you go? IF you’re getting frustrated with this scenario as a Hiring Manager, I can understand the premise to use one agency however, as per several of the roles we’re devliering on currently - it’s because of the reasons above! Happy to have a chat with any Medical Affairs hiring managers in this situation - always feels greater proving there is top quality profiles out there! 👌

✨ In hiring, the seemingly small things mean A LOT to candidates. ✨ Perfect example: One of our top clients made an offer this week, and they crushed the “small things” that added up to a huge result – ☑ They made their decision immediately after debriefing and acted extremely quickly on crafting the verbal offer. ☑ They came in $5K higher than what the candidate originally asked for without any sort of negotiation needed. They did it completely of their own volition because they recognized the top quality of the candidate and all he brought to the table. ☑ Result: The candidate was delighted and verbally accepted on the spot. He is shot out of a cannon to start this new job and feels truly wanted! Investing in the seemingly "small" gestures during the hiring process will inevitably make all the difference in attracting and landing the best Medical Affairs talent out there. Wishing you all positivity from The Carolan Group – happy interviewing, happy hiring, and happy MSL-ing/Medical Affairs-ing! 😁😁😁 Tom Caravela, Sarah Snyder, Arielle Perrusio, Rachel Strauss, George Riedel #TheCarolanGroup #MedicalAffairs #MSLs #Hiring

If you’re in Field Medical Affairs, you know firsthand the critical importance and power of being able to deliver a compelling scientific presentation. At The Carolan Group, we know it too. It is often the most heavily weighted and "make or break" portion of the MSL interview process. ▶️ In a recent conversation with one of my favorite Hiring Managers, I asked him what he is looking for in an MSL candidate’s presentation. His answer was succinct AND brilliant. He simply replied: 💡 1. Can the MSL function as a storyteller? 💡 2. Can the MSL highlight the RIGHT data points? ▶️ His answer underscores that the MSL role is very much about the science and understanding the right data and clinical meat to present to a KOL or HCP, but it is also equally about HOW that science is communicated. Understanding the data is all well and good, but the ability to tell a dynamic story and engage the audience sets the “great” MSL candidates very definitively apart. I’d invite all my Hiring Manager friends to chime in, if you have any other MSL presentation tips and tricks! 🤗 HAPPY interviewing, and HAPPY presenting!!! You got this!!! 🤗 #TheCarolanGroup #TCG #MSLPresentations #MedicalAffairs

Making first contact with HCPs is usually a daunting task I remember when I was starting a new role as an MSL in a new therapy area. Was given a target list with names, emails and phone numbers to reach out First week, I cold called the Office Managers and most went to voicemail. I left a message and never got a response back. The few who answered were probably busy to listen to me and requested I send a mail. I figured out immediately this wasn’t working. Now I mapped out the physical locations of these clinics and went there without an appointment. I must say the results were quite different The reception was quite different and I started getting appointments lined up, and my emails answered. First face-to-face meetings really make a difference when starting off in a new territory, and I personally believe that hiring managers should he looking out for candidates who have a plan that works, rather than looking for “ready-made” contacts. How do you manage new HCPs or TAs? #MSLlife #MSL #MedAffairs
