Why did I feel triumph as I watched Argo?
Why did I hold my breath for two hours and four minutes as I watched Whiplash?
Why did I cry at the end of Coco?
Why do I still have a fear of my ankle being sliced from a scalpel because of Pet Sematary?
Because
#1. I love me some movies...all types of movies
#2. They are stories that are told well
#3. Because stories are oxymorons...they are uniquely the same!! And that is what evokes emotion and makes them memorable!
Your story is uniquely yours. NOBODY on this earth even if they are your twin and you shared a womb, will have the exact same experiences and thoughts about those experiences as you!
How you convey the story is uniquely yours.
The words you use to share the stories are uniquely you.
The energy you put into sharing your story is yours.
BUUUUTTTT as you share the story, the person who is hearing it has the same emotions as you! Maybe not for that particular incident, but something in their life has made them feel the say way you felt at one time.
That is why, I cheered in triumph as I watched Argo. Hopefully, I will never know what it feels like to be an American Hostage but I do know the feeling of relief and safety.
That is why I held my breath at Whiplash. I will never be a young jazz drummer with a tyrant for a teacher but I understand what it feels like to want something so badly and it always feels so out of reach.
That is why I cried at Coco because ... um....have you seen Coco???? If you don't cry, did you even WATCH the movie??? I know what it is like to lose a loved one and to have a misunderstanding of that loved one.
This is why I look under the bed to make sure creepy ass Gage ain't underneath my bed!! No one has ever been underneath there *knocks on wood* but the fear of that happening to me, I understand that fear!!
Stories told well evoke emotion! And that is how you connect. And that connection is powerful!
Your story is uniquely the same.
How are you sharing yours today?

How do you drive a car 1 mile in 4.7 seconds? Andrew Green OBE, the fastest recorded man on Earth (in Thrust SSC (Supersonic Car)), gives an elegant Masterclass in how to keep it all together at 763mph (1,227kph!) while delivering unprecedented success for his team. The importance of motor racing in your day to day safety cannot be overstated, from vehicle structural design, to Anti-Lock Braking Systems, All Wheel Drive, Turbochargers, Disc Brakes and a whole lot more performance and safety technologies.
Ben COLLINS ((aka the original BBC Top Gear #Stig), in my experience a lovely bloke to work with during my time at Powerboat P1) tries to conceal his awe of Wing Commander Andy Green. This in-depth interview reveals unseen footage of the incredible Thrust SSC Project under the leadership of Richard Noble, which brought together dozens of scientists and engineers to each contribute their individual vision to the success of the project. A record still standing after 26 years and 3 months since it was set on October 15, 1997 speaks volumes about the engineering and human cooperation complexities overcome, and the difficulties of replicating or even exceeding this awesome achievement.
What can we learn?
1. Take the time to deeply understand the people with whom you choose to work, this saves fall-outs later.
2. Align your individual dreams and visions, meaning setting egos aside to create the atmosphere to accept that everyone has a valuable contribution to make, while being true to their own values, and achieving the collaborative goals you have decided together.
3. Support each other to get there, meaning being aware of everyone moving forward together (go one, go all).
4. Be prepared to adjust or even pivot together as a team, as opportunities and changes in external factors present options that collectively excite you.
5. Go fast.
6. Have fun on the journey.
7. Get to the BOOM with a smile on everyone's faces!
