Argonne National Laboratory’s Post

Mentorship is about more than guidance—it’s about building connections, learning from others, and growing together. Philip Anderson, Director of Argonne’s Leadership Institute, reflects on the role of mentorship in his career: “I spent 20 years in the Army, and so when I retired, I was 38 years old and had not really been in the civilian workforce. That’s a pretty daunting circumstance for military members. That’s where mentors became really important to me. Not only to understand the civilian workforce but also to build a new career.” At Argonne, mentoring helps employees forge meaningful connections, expand their professional networks, and advance their careers. This #NationalMentoringMonth, we celebrate the power of mentorship to shape careers and build relationships that inspire growth and success. #WeAreArgonne

Absolutely, to teach is to learn twice! I love it.
